“Repo’s getting away!” Mikey said.
“Not if I have anything to say about it!” Leo said. “And let’s face it, when don’t I have something to say?” Energy coursed through his veins like lightning as he charged up his ninpo, preparing to teleport. “Portals ahoy!”
The familiar warmth of his ninpo suddenly became ice cold, but by the time Leo noticed it was too late. He was already halfway through the portal, and he couldn’t backpedal. All he could do was scream as he left New York and fell towards the bottom of a rocky ravine.

It had been a while since Leo has had trouble with his portals, so when he steps into one and never reappears, it takes his family by surprise. As they look for him, they find themselves grappling with loss and discovering long-forgotten family secrets. Donnie’s head was pounding and his limbs felt like wet paper as his senses started to return. Even with fuzzy vision, he could make out a horribly familiar office. Through the large, floor to ceiling window, the rising sun shined right in his eyes. Unfortunately, the ringing in his ears made it hard to distinguish sounds, but he knew the honeyed, singsong voice that was emanating from the lavender blob in front of him.

“It’s not difficult, it’s just wrong,” Raph growled. He couldn’t look at her. This was the thing. The thing that made everyone look at him with pity. Like he was defective or broken. Like he was some stupid idiot who couldn’t get with the program.
But it was everyone else who was wrong. Raph was the only one who was living in reality.
“Leo. Isn’t. Dead.”
_________________It's been two years since Leo's disappearance. The city has erected a monument in Bryant Park to honor and mourn New York's bravest young hero.
While Leo's statue sits in the park, Raph sits in therapy. Everyone believes Raph is too traumatized, too wounded to process the loss of his brother.
But there's something Raph can't explain, something only he can feel, something everybody wants him to ignore. It whispers softly somewhere in the deepest corners of his mind: he's still here.
Raph listens.

Leo thought he and Donnie had the situation under control. It was just a little portal, a fun experiment, but then said experiment attempted to kill the 'disaster twins' so maybe he was just a teeny bit overconfident in their skills. However, when the portal spits out four turtles- four turtles who seem rougher, older, more worn down- Leo starts to regret ever using the katanas as pizza cutters.
Clearly they did not appreciate his treatment of them and decided to make his life as hard as possible by dumping four emotional damaged turtles into his hands.

Summary
Donnie collided with Leo in a tangle of limbs. There was an instinctive cling in return from his twin, before the realization sunk in.
"No." Leo breathed in his ear, immediately shattered. "No, no, no, no, no!”
Every muscle in Donnie's body was shaking like an earthquake from the amount of effort he'd just expended. The explosion caught up to them, sending the twins spiralling away into space and debris.
For one singular moment, Donnie allowed himself a burst of victory. His heart was still thudding a thousand miles an hour in his chest, having been absolutely terrified he wasn't going to make it in time. But he did. And he held onto Leo, his prize.
Then they hit the ground, the sudden tumble bursting them apart. Donnie felt the world spin, rapid and disorientating, before he slammed into something rock and cracking under his impact.

He’d known about it well before Splinter kicked him out of his lab. How far back it went, he has no clear idea. Burnout is tricky. Sometimes he can tell the moment it starts to rear its head, and then he can go and decompress by skateboarding or playing video games, or by falling into the hole of a different hyper fixation until the feeling stops burning at his brain. Sometimes, though, it sneaks up on him and takes him by the throat, and the best he can do is just ride it out and hope he’ll crash before he melts.
“So a while, then?”
“…Maybe.”

Raph frowned, and the concern on his face was momentarily replaced by irritation.
"Leo," he started, and there was a warning note in his voice: "If you're thinking about your phone at a time like this, it's a sign that you have a damn serious problem."
Leo huffs in frustration, tapping his brother's wrist once more, this time just to find some outlet for his mounting stress.
"Usagi," he clarified, cursing the increasingly severe pain in his throat. "I have to call him."

Donnie and his brothers are shaken up by SHELLDON’s betrayal. Leo, Mikey, and Raph can’t stop thinking about what SHELLDON almost did, and the fact that it would’ve been their fault. Donnie, on the other hand, is more focused on what SHELLDON said, and how much truth it might have really held...
Of course, since Don would rather pluck his own nose hairs than experience emotional vulnerability, it’s rather more difficult than it needs to be for his brothers to figure this out.
