He turned around with a panicked look to his red eyes that faded at the corners when he saw it was just Enjin. Relaxing, Rudo slouched in on himself. “Don’t scare me like that, turdface,” Rudo grumbled.
“My question still stands,” Enjin said, placing an elbow on the ledge and perching his cheek on it. “What are you doing?”
“I couldn’t sleep,” Rudo admitted, sighing heavily.

He could’ve sworn he only closed his eyes for a minute, but the next time he opened them he was laying down. They were in… a car? Patches of deep orange light were illuminating the car in second long intervals. Through the small windows of light he could see a familiar face. Kojiro, sitting above him. He was laying across the car seats, his head in Kojiro’s lap, Kojiro’s hand resting gently on his head.
“You’re awake,” he said, something unfamiliar in his voice. It was relief. He was relieved.
“Where’s Carla?” Kaoru rasped, looking up at Kojiro, the world spinning around them as he did so.
“You’re worried about your board right now? Seriously? That’s what you’re concerned about?”
