Summary
“What if he was my father?” Merlin asks, the words bursting out of him with the force of his grief. “Is he worth my tears then?!”
If he wasn’t utterly at the end of his rope already, he would have found Arthur’s shocked expression amusing. Instead, it seemed to add insult to injury, and rather than backtracking, covering himself with a lie as usual, he continues.
“Balinor was my father, Arthur,” he snaps, voice bitter and harsh in his own ears. “Yes, I admit it, I’m the son of a dragonlord.”
What if Merlin snapped under the load of grief and told Arthur Balinor was his father?

Summary
Merlin is injured while (secretly) killing a beast the knights are "fighting." Obviously, he has to hide it, but that only goes so well when your insides are trying to be your outsides. Fortunately he's got a few friends who already know everything (and a few who will find out).
