In the end, it’s bizarre, just how easy it is to take up the guise of leadership, to start making decisions for others, to lend a helping hand when he’s not sure he’s ever had the option to, to maybe play the hero for once.
It isn’t that he’s suddenly found a will to live, per say. They’re just all going to die soon anyway.

He tightens his arms around Astarion, bringing him close, and presses a cheek into his soft curls. He feels Astarion splay a palm over his heart to feel it beating.
“No,” Astarion breathes into Durge’s neck, “I don’t want you to be good. But you are enough.”
______This is a slow burn romance about discovering self, partnership and sex after trauma. There is a lot of fluff, a little angst, and some good old fashioned smut. The Dark Urge and Astarion have defeated Cazador Szarr, the Chosen of the Dead Three and The Netherbrain, and in the days following their victory they discover just how good it feels to be alive.
