Summary
Bare feet padded down the hall, slow and heavy with sleep. Daisuke drifted in with a yawn, hair sticking up in three different directions, uniform shirt half-buttoned—and a thin black photo album tucked under one arm like contraband.
“Morning, Papa.”
“You’re late.” Taki pressed a piece of tamagoyaki between chopsticks, testing the spring, then nodded at the chair. “Sit. Eat. Button your shirt.”
Harua wandered in last, hoodie over a white tee, hair still damp from the shower. He leaned down to kiss the top of Taki’s head on his way to the sink, the gesture easy as breathing, then caught a dish towel with one finger and dried his hands. He had that look—the soft one, the I-slept-well-on-purpose one—and though Taki didn’t turn, the skin on his cheeks went warm anyway.
His eyes landed on the photo album sitting by Daisuke’s elbow. “Whatcha got there, Daisuke-nini?” he asked in the same sing-song fondness he always used for his son.
“Breakfast viewing,” Daisuke declared.

Summary
“Evening,” the officer said, stopping at the window. His voice was bright and flat at the same time. “License and route plan.”
“Evening,” Harua echoed, flashing a smile he usually saved for irate tourists. “Before we start—purely for the record—this was the freight barge’s fault.”
“Still speeding,” the officer said. “License and route plan.”
Harua flicked his wrist; the taxi projected the ID pane. The officer leaned in. Eye level. Close enough that Harua caught the sharp, dry scent of his cologne—mint edged with warm grass.
“Shigeta Harua,” the officer read. “Independent operator. Zone permit three. You were thirty-two over.”
“Twenty-nine,” Harua said.
“Thirty-two. Your meter’s optimistic.”
“Optimistic meters bring repeat customers.”
“Overly optimistic drivers bring unexpected collisions.” The officer finally looked at him instead of the pane. His eyes were serious, but a glint there suggested he was holding back a laugh.

Summary
He didn’t need to look to know where EJ was—shield up, glowing gold, standing between the boss and everything else. Nico danced just beyond the chaos, weaving through shadows, landing crit after crit.
“You really do put the ass in assassin,” EJ typed, mid-fight.
Nico snorted. He whiffed his next hit. Typed back:
“shut up lol”
Then:
“ur the one getting smacked rn”
“i’m built for it,” EJ wrote. “built diff.”
God. Nico grinned so wide his cheeks hurt.
He loved this.
No—he lived for this.
Not just the game. Not just the rush of perfect combos or the thrill of clearing a dungeon on the first try. It was them. The rhythm they had, the way they moved like synced code. Nico always knew when EJ would cast a taunt. EJ always knew when to toss a heal just before Nico overextended.
It felt like music.
Better, even—because it was theirs.

Summary
The next time he saw the Korean guest was by the vending machines, peering blankly at a row of unfamiliar cans. Nico didn’t mean to stop. And even more so didn’t mean to approach.
“Hey,” he said. Too loud.
The guest startled slightly and turned, eyes wide behind the glasses.
Nico panicked.
“You want—uh. You want surf wave?” he blurted out in broken English, even though he was absolutely fluent. Damn these nerves.
There was a beat of silence. The fan hummed overhead. Outside, cicadas screamed.
“I mean—surf. Surf wave. I mean, surf lesson. Tomorrow? Maybe?”
He mimed paddling.
Regretted it instantly.
The guest tilted his head, unsure. Then nodded. Slowly. Politely. Like someone agreeing to a free sample they didn’t actually want.
Nico wanted to slam his forehead into the vending machine. Instead, he smiled too wide and said, “Okay! Good! Ten o’clock!”
Fuma, crouched beside the cooler on the deck, caught the whole thing. He gave Nico a thumbs-up and mouthed: Ebi de tai wo tsuro nante, muda da yo.
“Shut up,” Nico muttered, half to himself.

Summary
“You were really chatty with Riwoo-hyung today,” Taki said, dropping his bag by the couch with more force than necessary.
Harua didn’t look up. He was eating yogurt like nothing in the world could touch him. “Yeah. He’s easy to talk to.”
“I noticed,” Taki muttered.
Silence.
Then Harua glanced over, spoon mid-air. “You’re jealous.”
Taki scoffed. “No, I’m not.”
