“Drake,” Damian said, his voice shaking. “Look at me, hey look at me!”
Tim slammed his head back and Damian flinched, hands hovering just above Tim, knowing not to touch him but not knowing what to do instead.
“Drake,” Damian tried again. “It’s just fear toxin, get a hold of yourself. It’s not real. None of it is real.”
It was no use, Tim was too far gone. He needed Dick, or Alfred, or anyone other than Damian. But it was just the two of them here. Comms were down, cell towers too, and if Damian left him to find the others Tim might accidentally hurt himself.
They were alone.

The shock burns away immediately; the ashes condense into a murky, muted sort of rage.
He stays still for a long moment, then pulls himself up against the wall. “Okay,” he says monotonously, taking a step toward the kid, and the kid- flinches. He flinches.
Jason reels back, not speaking yet, not trusting himself not to yell. And when he does speak, he says:

Jason didn’t comprehend what the creep meant, too focused on trying to pull his hands against the cuffs in the right way to pop his thumb out of place to get free.
There are many years of scars between Jason and Tim before they match.

Summary
The funny thing about safe houses is that they can be considered ‘safe’ for a variety of reasons. Some are safe because of their location. Warehouses tucked away in abandoned lots tend to run the most popular, and abandoned apartment buildings come second on that list. But, in Jason’s opinion the best safe houses are the ones kept in plain sight. Tiny apartments nestled between sections of the city. Right now he’s nabbed one right on the edge of Old-Gotham and Crime Alley. Safe enough to not get broken into on the regular, and just public enough to pass as being a normal guy with a normal life.
