Summary
Dawn still greyed the sky, and a fine morning mist soaked the sandy dirt of the sparring pits, quieting Duncan’s steps. Most of the Castle’s private forces trained in light leathers, or with simple linen shifts over bare skin: the weather was still warm, this far North. The icy southern rains which had whipped Duncan's back on his way to Highever had not reached the city quite yet.
As often, Duncan grimly mused, he walked ahead of the storm - dark tidings on his heels.

At the edges of his vision, Alistair weaves his weight from one foot to the other. Gallien focuses on the goblet in his hands. The liquid within shimmers with magic. It’s dark and thick and it sludges around at the bottom of the bowl when he moves it.
