Zak has had enough with the Z-Stacks' poor business, and as a last resort to beat the Star Fleet, he brings in 14 tugboats from a neighboring port. The visitors known as the "X-Aces" see potential in the Zeroes, assisting them in their work and for the first time their business outdoes the Star Fleet's. At the height of the Z-Stacks' newfound wealth, a vital contract is announced. Just before the competition ends, a slip-up ends in the Stars barely taking the contract. Livid at the loss, not only do the X-Aces turn their backs on the Z-Stacks; so does Zak, Zug, and even Zip, with the switchers also fed up with Zorran constantly bullying them. They also reveal their reputation as one of the most dangerous tugboat mafias in New York, first off stealing back Captain Zero's riches followed by putting the industries of Bigg City out of business, bribing authorities, and taking pleasure in using munitions and explosives to blow parts of the port up. Captain Zero and his remaining two tugs for once are eager to side with Captain Star, but the fleets will need much more assistance around Bigg City and possibly the port next door to defeat the X-Aces.
