His eyes remained fixed on the woman in front of him. The thought that he was interrupting the Queen of Sweden was the least of his worries right now. What was his worry was that he could see how Wille was physically shrinking under her sharp gaze, could see how the confidence Wille had spoken with only minutes ago was waning.

It's been 7 months since Wille and Simon drove away from Hillerska and towards their shared future. Wille deciding to renounce his title at 18 didn't solve all of their problems, but they had built a much more stable and healthy relationship once they were free from the weight of the crown.
Even being long distance, with Wille going to school in Stockholm and Simon back at Marieburg, they managed to disgust their friends daily being sickeningly in love. Wille says he can take the teasing - they earned the right to be That Annoying Couple after everything they went through in their first year.
Year 2 is going great though. They have good friends, like their schools, and their relationship is solid. They even have plans to go to university together once they graduate.
They should have known things were going too well. When a bombshell article rocks Sweden just after Christmas, everyone's world turns upside down.
The Royal Court is exposed. The people are revolting. And Wille and Simon don't know what to do - but at least they'll do it together…right?

He doesn't know how to make his mamma understand that what August did didn't hurt him, because "hurt" is just a four letter word, short, cute almost, for a child who'd scraped their knee or stumbled down the stairs- simple, small, insignificant.
It didn't hurt Wilhelm. No. It destroyed, annihilated, desecrated, shattered, demoralised, demolished, maimed, mutilated, damaged, wrecked, ruined, marred. But no, not "hurt", it hadn't hurt him at all.
