“If I'm being perfectly honest…I – haven't had a date in quite a while. Can't say I'm very good at – this.”
Martin doesn't move closer, simply holding Jon by the waist with his drink in hand.
“I dunno, I think you're doing really well.” He flashes Jon a smile, the recessed lights overhead glinting across sharp incisors. Certainly new additions, but somehow they still suit him. They're almost cute.
Still, Jon's throat grows tight at the sight of them, conjuring images that he isn't entirely sure are all his own. He hasn't been sure of a good many things as of late.

The knot rises through Jon's chest and into the back of his throat, rising up with anxious laughter that he does his best to tamp back down.

Summary
It would be nice if his body were to cooperate with him today. Martin will be home within the hour, and he needs to at the very least get his cake into the oven. He should have by now, but everything is just slow nowadays. The cane is becoming almost second nature, but not to the extent that he could simply move as he once had. It feels almost petty to complain – he is alive, after all – but when another fiery signal travels up and around, a hot flash spreading through his limbs in a dreadful wave, whatever energy he had left to dedicate towards gratitude burns up right along with it.
It continues this way for a while, his cane clicking across the tile as he gathers what he needs, lining them up along the counter. By the time that's done, he's already so damn tired. He probably shouldn’t have spent so much time tidying their room first, but it would have eaten at him otherwise. He wanted as few distractions as possible from Martin’s birthday, but he may very well have given himself a new one.

There’s no doubt about it, then.
Jon is stuck in a timeloop. The world’s most boring, frustrating timeloop, with the world’s most boring, frustrating man.
He wants to beat his head into the table. In fact, the only thing that stops him is Martin’s unrelenting presence. Why? Why? Of all the accursed moments in his life, why did it have to be this one? He would rather it be literally any other! Well, with some limitations, but…
He is absolutely positive that the average human person is not supposed to be exposed to so much Martin Blackwood for such a long time. Not that long, in actual seconds, but again, and again, and again, and again? Watching him say the exact same thing, with only the tiniest of variation, having his mannerisms and the tone of his voice practically driven into his skull? He will go bonkers, soon enough. He’s learning far too much about Martin than he ever wanted to.

The Lonely nearly burned it all away, rubbing away live nerves with salt, leaving nothing behind but the faintest flicker of heat when Jon had kissed him, lungs still full with that dense, stifling fog. Martin could hardly feel anything the first time he let Jon inside, but feeling anything was a victory. Even if it was just the rush of his heart when Jon first moaned his name, clinging to either side of Martin's hips as they rocked together in a dusty old bed. It was better than nothing at all.
He was so nearly nothing.
