Summary
'It's been so long since I've had a friend, we can play together!' In contrast to the cheerful tone of voice, his sense of dread had grown stronger. He didn't even notice that time had resumed its course, and moved away from Arthur to take a few steps out of the ruins.
"What's wrong with you, Merlin?" Arthur looks at him with a frown, trying to understand his servant's reaction.
But Merlin didn't hear him. In place of Arthur's face and his normally blue eyes. There was nothing, just black holes that seemed never to end and a mouth that looked like a smile, jaw dropping as if there were no muscle or bone underneath.
'Don't worry, it's already too late, running away won't do any good.'

Gaius ushers them in. “I was just gathering my things to come check in on you. How are you feeling?”
“Uh, headache. Deeply wrong.” And then Merlin adds offhandedly, “Oh, and like I’ve switched bodies with the Crown Prince of Camelot.”
Or: Merlin and Arthur accidentally swap bodies. This would be a great opportunity for Merlin to relish in making Arthur muck out the stables, if the prat hadn't also gotten Merlin's magic in the exchange.

Merlin is not pleased by that decision but he stays to spite his parents. He also ends up falling in love with the Camelot's prince. A poor decision on his part.
Merlin may be the greatest wizard but he is also the greatest fool in love. He finds happiness anyways.

Merlin may have had a sheltered upbringing in his small farming village, but he could imagine what kind of work she had to offer him, and he wasn’t sure he wanted it. Still, he stood up, shaking slightly from hunger and exhaustion. There was something in this woman’s eyes that compelled Merlin to trust her.

After Arthur disobeyed his father and retrieved the Mortaeus flower for Merlin's cure, Arthur's frantic pleading to save Merlin led to a misunderstanding that actually convinced Uther to take the flower to Gaius.
Now all Arthur has to do is explain to Merlin why Uther thinks they are lovers.
And while Uther is supportive of the relationship, he requires it kept secret. But in his paranoia, Uther misinterprets every innocent interaction between the two as something far more intimate, to the embarrassment of everyone involved.
