    These words have haunted Leo’s dreams ever since they were uttered from Casey Jr’s lips. Even with the kraang defeated, those words refused to leave Leo’s mind. While his brothers sleep peacefully he’s woken up by images that shake him to his very core. Leo already struggled to sleep given his battles with insomnia, but now it’s even worse. The longer this went on, the worst the images went, and the more it singled it on one person in particular. The brother of his that’s the most vulnerable, the one he’s always felt the closest to, his dear twin, Donnie. For all of Donnie’s strength, his shell was a major weak spot; wearing a literal target on his back for enemies to take advantage of.

    Before long, Leo's made up his mind. He'll do whatever it takes to keep Donnie safe; no matter what he has to say on the matter. He's only doing what's necessary to keep his beloved twin safe; how could he possibly be in the wrong? Answer: He can't. He isn't. He'll keep Donnie safe, end of story.

    “Raph?” His whisper is soft, tentative, as he kneels down beside his brother’s bed. Leo reaches out a hand to help, but realizes with a little bit of shame that he doesn’t actually know what’s wrong.

    A clipped whine leaves Raph’s throat, and it’s enough to send all the nerves in Leo’s body to red alert. Something primal and instinctual activates in his chest, forcing him to find the cause of pain and fix it, because Raph should never make that sound. That sound is born of hurt and fear, and it should only be for other people, not Leo’s little brother.
