Summary

And the fact that secrets and conflict from his and Arthur and Uther's past are coming back to haunt them.
And the fact that, after the truth of Ygraine Pendragon's untimely death is revealed, nothing can ever be the same again.

His best friend Will always teased him about it mercilessly, but Merlin didn't care if Will thought that it was girly of him. He wondered if he had a soulmate out there, looking at the same thing from somewhere far away.
Arthur always watched the sunrise from his window. He longed to go outside, to feel the morning breeze on his skin. But since he was the crown prince, the most he could ever do was look outside from the safety of his chambers.
AKA a soulmate AU where if you have the urge to see the sunrise or sunset, your soulmate feels it too (something I saw on tumblr).

It's an amazing and dark take on the show and legend, they incorporate the actual legends with the BBC1's Adventures of Merlin and connects them in interesting ways while also developing a completely new AU. You go through a lot with the characters and it's a wild ride from start to finish. The fanfic is rich with complex characters and intrigue. You feel for the characters and what they are going through. What the main couple has to do to stay together is heartbreaking and beautiful as well as dark. It's a new and dark twist on the relationship of Merthur. They feel real and are very deep, twisted characters with their own goodness and evil mixed in. I enjoyed this very much and i hope you all do as well.

Merlin thinks Arthur is self-entitled and would really rather not be in the same country, much less the room across the hall from him. Somewhere along the way there's a reporter who tells them things they don't want to hear (Merlin – a decent swimmer? Christ. Arthur and Gwaine – leading prospects for gold in beach volleyball? That won't deflate their egos any, will it?), a bit of stalking and a lot of sentences that start with "So..." but maybe (Arthur makes no promises) it'll all work out in the end.

Uther Pendragon is the King of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. His son is Arthur Pendragon Prince of Wales. Merlin Emrys a young sorcerer living in the tiny village of Ealdor in Wales. The world of magic has been a secret for the past eight hundred years ever since the Arcana Magicam agreement. So Merlin is rather surprised one day when Arthur stumbles upon him performing magic in the woods and asks “Are you a wizard?” like it’s a perfectly everyday question. The two boys become fast friends after Merlin dazzles Arthur with his magic.
However as they grow up in their very different worlds things begin to change in Britain, the king is no longer satisfied with his secret campaign against magic users and with the help of the new prime minister Aeridian Black another enemy of sorcerers new laws come into place which will make life very difficult for Merlin and his kind. -
