Summary
There was a rustling in the bushes behind her and Gwen knew she should’ve been on her guard, but she couldn’t bring herself to draw her wand. The tears wouldn’t stop streaming down her face and her breaths were more like hiccups between sobs. She just waited to see whatever beast emerged to finish her off, maybe that would send her home.
But the beast never came, instead a moogle slowly flew to her side and rubbed his little paws together nervously.
“Um, a-are you alright, kupo?” he asked quietly, and Gwen just stared up at him.
If the situation had been even slightly different, Gwen might’ve laughed. Of course a moogle would interrupt her breakdown. Even in a world where her father didn’t exist, she encountered the ghost of him everywhere.

“Yes, Marlene?” He asked with a small, brittle smile.
“Do you want tea, Mr. Reeve? I poured a cup too many,” she pouted, glancing down at her circle of plush Moogles and dolls. “Miss Edwina decided she’d prefer fruit juice after all, but she didn’t tell me until I had the tea in the cup. That’s very bad manners,” she nodded reproachfully while looking sternly at a pink Moogle.
Or, Reeve regrets a lot of his life decisions when it comes to the ShinRa, but like hell he's going to scare a little kid who hasn't asked to get kidnapped and stuck in this mess. And if that means having a tea party with plush Moogles on the floor of his office to entertain her, then so be it.
