    Summary

Haymitch, from the execution of his mother, brother, and girlfriend through the 51st Games.

I have an apostrophe problem. According to the metal gates that guard my house, I live in Victors’ Village. It is supposed to belong to more than one victor. I grab a wrench and climb up the gates. They are decorated with metal vines that act as footholds. I cannot get an angle to knock down the apostrophe exclusively, so I end up bending the S as I lever the punctuation out of place. That does not matter. I wedge the wrought-iron apostrophe where it belongs, right after the R.

    I live in Victor’s Village.

    Alone.

Note: This fic was written before SOTR, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that carries on two rather specific major thematic elements of SOTR (details in endnote). It does not contain SOTR spoilers.

    Summary

A series of fics surrounding my elaborate history of Panem that covers every single Hunger Games and their impact, the impact of the First and Second Rebellions, on our heroes. All unnamed Hunger Games victors are described with a few details, particularly how they dealt with the trauma of the arena and how the districts preserved faith, culture, and traditions under the iron jackboots of the Capitol.

Between that, his obligations in the Capitol, and the growing political unrest back home in District Four, he’s got more than enough to manage—and that’s not even counting this year’s fire-starting tributes from District Twelve.

“I was always the one to beat,” I tell him. “I’m sorry that you forgot.”

Eighteen-year-old Johanna Mason has what it takes to survive the Hunger Games, but she’s not going to let anyone know it. Least of all the audience, who she eyes with thinly veiled hatred. But to make it out of the arena in once piece, she’s going to have to put on the show of a lifetime.

    Summary

Haymitch Abernathy is the only mentor 12 has had for 25 years. When two new “dead ones” are reaped in the 74th, he knows his job for the rebellion is to make them as memorable as possible. They turn out to be pretty good at making themselves memorable all on their own.

This is The Hunger Games series from Haymitch’s POV. I tried really hard not to use too much from the books. There’s a lot of “original” content in here. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!

Previously titled What Mentors Do. I’ve done a tiny little edit in Ch. 82 that will be very important later.

    Summary

My uncle is the only living Victor in the District; as such, he is one of the few who never goes hungry. But, as I think about the mandatory Game to watch, I'm not envious of him. The Hunger Games is always bloody and horrific.
But even though Haymitch would have plenty to give, my father never asked him for anything. Which Gale knows very well.
'His brother' I correct Gale darkly. Whatever the conflict between my father and my uncle, my Dad considers him a full-fledged brother, even though their father is not shared. Which, again, Gale knows very well.

Or, its a different universe, and Katniss's dad is alive. It helps some things, and some things are...dark as ever.

At least they are alive; maybe, it is still a better option than being brought home in a wooden coffin. Or, maybe the ones locked up in boxes of oak and pine are the lucky ones.
