Summary
Even if it hurts, even if it ruins us.
A series of short prompt fills for a personal kinktober challenge, done at a relaxed pace (the goal being to finish even if it's not "on time") with various FFXVI ships I enjoy writing.

Summary
Clive had left the Hideaway a month ago sniping about Cid's stupid little shortcuts, and he had returned to a broken encampment on the edge of survival with Cid's power in his hands, a poor substitute for the Dominant of Ramuh.
"What the hell are you going to do?" Otto demanded.
"This world isn't perfect," Clive said. Life's too short for perfect plans, a voice whispered in his ear. The memory was tinged with humour, with the confidence of a man always knew how to find another way, and with heartache, too. Clive stood, full of uncertainty, and sheathed his sword. "I'm going to find you a way."

Or: Clive becomes what he must.

Summary
Father,
As much as I would love to partake in these festivities of yours, it seems that my heat has come early this year. But worry not, for I have the means to take care of myself, as I always do. My dragoons and I will return to Oriflamme next season.

Summary
Clive Rosfield gave it everything he had to end Ultima and Origin. He gave his all to fix the world so that they finally could live on their own terms. Something unexpected happened in the flow of aether he used to do it, however. And now he is back where it all began: Rosalith, Year of the Realm 860.
An impossible opportunity is too good to pass up and maybe, if he's lucky, things might just turn out better than the first time.

Summary
Dion looks at the dull hair, the proud nose that was his own, the way his father’s spotted, papery hands reveal his decay. All the aspects of himself that were his own are mirrored as failures to him now. His inheritance was impropriety alone.
[Canon-divergence. Sylvestre survives to see Twinside's dawn. Dion asks after an unhappy answer.]

Summary
Dion hated to expose his weakened state in front of people, least of all the knights under his command. That is why, after he had returned from his priming, his steps never wavered until he entered the tent and collapsed into Terence's waiting arms.
Terence locked away from his mind the memory of the fresh blood that had stained his prince’s lips and palm, sealing it so he could not recall it, before turning on his heel toward the command tent.
*
Dion endures the price of his strength, while Terence endures the emotional pain that brings.

Summary
Fate is a fickle thing stitched together by prophecy, religion and the gods themselves. So fickle is it, that one single act can change it all and alter entire planets. Histories made to bend and yield to the change. In this one promised prince awakens something fierce in the flames, and with it a cold terror, a king of the Night, will see the true power of Dominants. For Fate is written in Fire, and the song of Ice and Fire will be its usher into the Dawn.

Summary
The ceremony is nearly complete. Their lips hover mere inches from each other when the walls of Rosalith begin to shake. Clive can recite each disastrous turn of events as they unfold.
This is how it always goes: the hall fills with flame and chaos ensues. Suddenly Joshua is gone and when Clive bolts for the crumbling exit, he hears the Phoenix’s cry before he sees it.
Joshua Rosfield has been presumed dead for eighteen years. When a rumor of the Phoenix's presence in the Iron Kingdom makes its way to Clive, he sets out to free Joshua and reunite with him. But Joshua has been expertly traumatized into compliance for years. After being tortured and manipulated by his last memories of Clive, the person who was once his Shield has now become the focal point of his terror.

Summary
There are two things Terence knows about Dion Lesage. One is that he is the Dominant of Bahamut--the mighty drake, warden of light, as others say--and that his father is to be the next emperor.
Terence also knows he does not want to meet Dion Lesage.

Summary
Clive didn’t look up, but his pen stilled. “Go to sleep, Joshua.”
Joshua slinked closer, robe slipping to reveal a collarbone dusted with Dion’s fading marks: “Can’t. Dion’s in Dubai. The bed’s too… cold.”
Clive: “You’re playing a dangerous game.”
Joshua trailing a finger down Clive’s tie: “Games are only dangerous if you lose.” His toe brushed Clive’s calf under the desk. “Remember that summer in Nice? When you taught me to swim? You held me so tight I thought I’d drown.”
Clive answered hoarsely: “You were a kid.”
Joshua’s lips grazed Clive’s ear: “I’m not a kid anymore.”
