Arthur Lester is dead.
The last thing he remembers is the panicked run through the witch’s lair, with John’s voice guiding him in the darkness of the tunnels, and Yorick at his belt narrating his doom. A sharp pain in his abdomen, the blade piercing through his flesh, emerging on the other side, as blood seeps out of his body and lands in heavy droplets on the ground.
John’s pained scream, calling his name.Darkness.
Then he wakes in a painfully familiar place, with a familiar voice in his head.
But there are still promises to keep – promises, whose weight hangs heavy on Arthur’s shoulders. Breaking Kayne’s deal threatens eternal suffering not just for him, but for everyone he’s ever loved; yet how can he find his way not only back to England, but to the right time, the right universe?
In this place of wrath and tears, Arthur, and the entity within are forced to reckon with the past and with the future. Old wounds are opened, new knowledge uncovered. Will they light a fuse on the relationship with an old foe, risking everything they've worked for — or perhaps, gain an unexpected ally for the final day of judgement?

Oscar studies him clearly from mussed hair to scuffed boot, focusing in on the strange half-second in which he felt his way along the pew in order to move closer. Time had not been kind to either of them, leaving its obvious marks in various places. Instead of pointing out new scars, the wrinkled state of his jacket, how the knot of his tie was not quite tight enough, he simply drinks him all in to the best of his impartial ability. It is not easy.
“You’re still thin,” he admonishes kindly. “That always worried me, you know?”
Carefully he lifts his remaining hand to Arthur’s face, palm cupping one side of his jawline as if feeling along the bone there. Automatically Arthur closes his eyes, sinking into the touch. Just as soon as he leans against the fleeting shiver of heat, it’s gone.
Arthur and John return to what they left behind, hoping for a fresh start.

Summary
PorchFest is honestly Willie’s favorite day of the year. Everyone in the neighborhood attends, either to play music on their porches or to spectate, and it’s always a good time. Their neighborhood is popular among college students too, so there’s always new acts every year. Their dads have been a staple since they moved into this neighborhood, and now that Julie is back into music, Triple Threat is making its comeback debut.
After about an hour of skating around and checking out the different acts—everyone from garage bands to kids’ performers to anyone with an instrument and a porch— they happen upon a crowd almost as large as the one at their house. Whoever’s playing has an upbeat, pop punk sound, and Willie skates closer to try and get a look at the band.
As soon as she catches sight of them—the four prettiest boys he’s ever seen— he’s so distracted that he skates straight into a parked car, getting himself thrown off their skateboard and onto the ground.
