You’re fine,” he tried to reassure him, pulling up the thin blanket that had been kicked down to the foot of the bed and draping it over Tommy to conserve some of the quickly fleeting warmth. “Your name’s only in there once, remember?”
Tommy sniffed and pressed his face into Wilbur’s shoulder. “You’re sure?”
He nodded. “I’m sure.”

The Minecraft name is a word for the absolute hell they put a now dead Tommy through, with nobody wishing to associate themselves with anyone in their family.
But after Tubbo's 17th birthday, following his father's delusions, the Minecraft family finds themselves back into the same town, same house that they started this all in.

After he finds Tommy in his basement, Technoblade comes to realize how horrible Tommy's exile was-- and how they both deal with isolation.
Techno thunks the last log into place and sits back on his heels. Past the circle of lantern light, the forest rings them in for miles, all spikes and edges, and beyond it, the mountains with their halo of moonlight. Somewhere beyond that, Phil might be at a window, staring at the same darkness.
He shakes himself.
“Alright, we’ll fix the rest tomorrow,” he says, and gets up, fully expecting Tommy to protest the assumption that he’ll help. When there's no response, he turns.
Tommy is still staring at the creeper hole.

Summary
The royal family of Antarctic empire isn’t exactly close.
Emperor Philza is always occupied; Tommy hasn’t seen Techno in months, and even if Wilbur is here, their relationship can be described to be strained at best.
The royal family doesn’t need to be close, however, it only needs to be balanced, like the pillars holding the country above their heads – as long as they are strong and steady, the Empire will be too. It’s the principle that held Tommy’s back straight and his shoulders broad through the years of hardships and trials of errors; through yet another formal meeting where his father’s gaze would look past him and where his brother’s words would be filled with poison that makes the deepest parts of his soul ache.
At that time, Tommy couldn't know that his family would find a replacement for him in the face of a commoner boy named Ranboo.

“I don’t believe you for a second,” the villager said with a scoff. “Reviving the dead? You, a god? That’s the most preposterous thing I’ve heard in all my years.”
“Oh? You don’t believe me?” Dream smiled. “That’s okay, I’m more than willing to give you all a demonstration. Tommy,” he called, gesturing to the blond.
Tommy knew exactly what was going to happen, and he knew that there was no point in resisting, for it’d be over quicker if he gave up and went along with it (and if he struggled he’d really just be making a fool of himself). So he walked over to Dream, quietly, obediently, and stood facing the crowd. At least his death would be quick this time, he thought, as he shut his eyes and felt the cool of metal against his neck. One slash, and the world went dark.
Or: Tommy didn’t originally plan to hit the water when he jumped off the tower in Logsted, so he hit the ground instead. Dream decides that’s as good a time as any to test out the revival book, and upon succeeding, decides he’s a god and it’s high time he gained some followers.

Summary
It's hard, looking in the mirror every morning and seeing the person you've failed to be. The eyes and stature of a hero, someone who saves lives when everyone else leaves them to die. The type of person who is brave in the face of danger and calm in the middle of a storm.
He is none of those things and yet he becomes one of the top heroes, wings of bright vermillion catching the eyes of many and he's proud. Not because of who he had become, but rather how easily he can keep up this act.
Well, it used to be easy.
Now he is nothing but a dead man dealing with the repercussions of his actions. The weight of his friends' damning choices rest on his shoulders and all he wants to do is rest, but there are villains out there...
And Tommy is a hero, for better or for worse.
