Summary
When Peter finds a poster of someone looking for someone to be their fake uncle at a party, he's not expecting a young, recently orphaned teenage boy. Especially when said recent orphan doesn't mention the whole "orphan" thing. Peter COULD let this all go and go home a few thousand dollars richer, but unfortunately, he has a conscious that just won't let him leave a fifteen year old to their own devices. He elicits a bit of help from the billionaire down the street.

Summary
What Bruce wants to say is that Nightwing has other commitments, to Bludhaven, to the Titans. Even though he knows its not a good enough reason. Because what Bruce actually wants to say is that he wants to keep Nightwing as far from the worst of the threats as possible. His son, Dick, should have a different life, a better one. He'd hoped that moving to Bludhaven, leading the Titans would give him enough of the action that he was always seeking out but keep him from the worst of it. But Bruce is delirious with this many pain meds in his systems, and all the wires in his brain cross and fizzle out in a spark of electricity.
So what actually comes out is, "Because he's... Dick." Well, shit.
Or
Batman wished he missed the League's meeting to vote on new members, because Nightwing's nomination prompts his overprotectiveness to lash out. What's especially bad is that he'd had been way too hopped up on painmeds and now the League thinks he's bitter about Nightwing breaking up with him.

Ok, so maybe Peter took the job (internship, whatever) to be around Wade, and yeah, maybe that wasn't exactly professional of him, but sue him, he wants to spend more time with his boyfriend!
Ok, no, don't sue him, Peter is poor.
But now he has a job, so maybe he won't be poor for much longer.
Of course, that all depends on whether or not his new boss likes him, and whether Peter is able to keep said boss from discovering that Peter is everyone's favorite neighborhood Spiderman.
And when that Boss is Tony Stark... Well, Peter's confidence has hit an all-time low.

“Important crime things,” Jason emphasizes. “Make Wingdick do it.”Jason doesn't think much of it when Tim needs his help, or Damian moves in, or even when Dick turns up looking beat all to hell. But at some point he realizes that he might be the best option his brothers have to recover from the cycle of violence that Batman has set up, and all he can think is that things were much easier when he was the villain.

“Je-Jesus, Mister Stark, I’m not on drugs!”
“Then what was it?”
Letting out a huff that’s more of a wheeze, Peter gives in. “The only thing I did was have a couple energy drinks this afternoon because the coffee wasn’t helping me stay awake. It’s–it’s midterms ‘n I got stuff to do.”
