Summary
Near the end of her pregnancy Concubine Gyokuyou is attacked in the middle of the night. Maomao steps in to defend her and while fighting for her life ends up taking the life of the attacker while sustaining serious injuries.
While Jinshi steps in to care for her physically, Maomao deals with the mental turmoil of taking a life.
With Maomao vulnerable and Jinshi doing his best to be patient with her, something begins to bloom between them.

Summary
Starting from a young age, Phil has taken an interest in psychology. What makes the mind tick and what pushes humans to do terrible things. Cults in particular are a fascination of his, also the subject of his master thesis when he earned his degree. This leads him to the dangerous position of being asked for help by the police when they need somebody to infiltrate a cult called The Blood God’s Chosen.
Phil’s job isn’t hard. Enter the cult as a new initiate, keep his head down, and gather the needed information so police can make arrests. The entire thing should only take a few days.
Then he meets a young child the cult has denoted its sacrificial lamb and things get complicated.

This relationship with Wilbur, the way Tommy’s heart jumps when he walks in– definitely not healthy. But Tommy’s not very well-versed in healthy relationships. He knows what they should be, yes– a take and a give, but Tommy is a taker and he’s used to that. A burden for those who can’t handle it.
(or, my take on the "Dark SBI" trend i've seen going around, except.... well. SBI aren't really the smooth manipulators they want to be. Tommy, on the other hand-)

Summary
The car door opens with a crunch, glass shards like crystals spraying the car. His ears are ringing as the door scrapes against concrete and he realises, with clarity that doesn’t match the blurry doubling of his vision, that the car is upside down.
He reaches out towards the concrete, jaw clenched when his arm brushes broken glass. He barely gets his forearm out before someone grabs him and Stitch’s heart lurches.
“Holy shit are you okay?” A voice asks and he hasn’t heard that question in years.

Abuse is such an ugly word, like a fat maggot that’s wriggling around your mouth.

Phil tries to ignore the kid, he does, because war is unforgiving, but he can't escape him. They keep getting assigned together, and the kid isn't afraid. It should be annoying. Phil should scare him away. He doesn't.
He can't.
Phil will show his fangs and the kid will laugh at him. Bloodshed doesn't bother him, and violence intrigues him. He keeps challenging Phil. Sometimes, Phil will win, of course. But then the kid will think up some insane plot during the next battle and pull ahead. It's almost fun. It's terrifying. He's afraid that the child will start to mean something.

Life for a dragon hybrid is simple. Find food, keep your hoard, sleep in your nest. Techno enjoys it all and he's amazing at it. When he grows up, he'll be the biggest, strongest, coolest dragon around!
At least, that's what he thinks until he gets caught and forced away from that life by hybrid hunters. They know all of that about dragon-living too. But they don't seem to think it's as good as he does...
From his new, very bad, experiences, Techno knows that humans are awful all of the time. Even men that wear too much green and leave their food in easy to steal places; they suck big time! No one will ever prove him wrong, he's certain.

The only issue is, Techno never freed the Angel at all, and this is all a huge misunderstanding.
Or: Through a series of unfortunate events, and a lot of miscommunication, Techno gets adopted by the devil.

Chapt 18 really perfect description of depression and... yeah fuck that made me tear up

Change to rec when finished. 8.10.24If there was ever a fic that hurt me, this is it.
Fuck, it took so long, but not long enough to finish it. Its like watching a car crash happen; you cant look away no matter how hard you try.
I really wanted to drop the fic after the third to last chapter after the mcdonalds scene. That shit hit me like like a car on the freeway hitting a bug. But i was so close to finishing and just pushed through after a week of reading something else.
Fuck, this fic hurts.
The characterization, the descriptions, the fucking mental shit and how accurate it is that someone with /that/ must have helped write it.
Its so good and it hurts so bad. Im going to go find fluff fics and read thoses for a while before i start reading anything dark again.
