Rex was jolted awake out of his impromptu nap by a wild-haired Jedi nearly knocking his door down. His eyes snapped open when the banging started, his hand halfway to his blaster before he registered the familiar voice outside.
He slid his door open, intent on scolding the man for such a rude awakening, when Skywalker scooped him into a hug before he could speak. Skywalker’s shoulders were shaking faintly when Rex’s arms came up to hug him back. “It really doesn’t bother me, my dear,” Obi-Wan lied through his teeth, struggling to sit upright on the bed in the medbay after his most recent injury. His arm was in a sling so he couldn’t sign, and Cody could see the frustration in his eyes with every instinctive move to lift his arm, “I have spent years not hearing, it is as much a part of me as my lightsaber is, it’s part of who I am. Yes, my implant allows me to hear and yes, sometimes I do miss the voices of my loved ones, but I am used to it.”
“But you shouldn’t have to be,” Cody signed as he spoke, letting out a sigh, “you chose to get the implant for a reason, to have the choice to hear. And that choice has been taken from you.”
“You do not need to worry about me, dear,” Obi-Wan said, reaching out with his uninjured hand to place it on Cody’s knee. Cody just shook his head and smiled sadly.
“I always worry about you, cyare.”

Summary
After a year on the run Fives, Echo, and Dogma have finally- reluctantly- reached Coruscant and the Jedi Temple. Now the Jedi have three traumatized children on their hands, news of an army they never asked for made to fight a war that hasn't started, and the same feeling of impending darkness that's been clouding the Force since Naboo. And as if that weren't enough there are those out there- Sith and Kaminoan alike- who want their property back, and they'll do anything to make it happen.
(Echo and Dogma learn how to be themselves and Fives learns how to relax. Anakin gets to be a big brother, Obi-Wan goes grey before his time, and Yoda teaches children to be children. Mace just wants to kick a few people down reactor shafts. And somehow, this mess ends up changing the course of the galaxy.)

Summary
After the events on Bandomeer, Qui-Gon reiterates that he cannot train Obi-Wan, but he tells Obi-Wan he deserves to be a Jedi. Obi-Wan follows Qui-Gon back to the Temple, becomes the padawan of Councilor Mace Windu, and dedicates himself to being a padawan worthy of a master who sits on the Council and invented his own lightaber form. Along the way, he bonds with his lineage sister, Depa Billaba, gets into mischief with his best friend Quinlan, and meets the Mand'alor, Jaster Mereel.
Obi-Wan Kenobi, unwanted child and then unwanted initiate finds himself a family that spans cultures and the galaxy. And when darkness rises up to threaten it, he defends his family with all the lessons and tricks the Force has taught him.
