Summary
Edward Teach is a pop star about to embark on his latest tour when he develops vocal nodes. Stede Bonnet is the voice specialist who treats him. Sparks fly.
“Right. And could you please describe your singing voice to me? Or sing something you feel showcases your voice, if you feel comfortable. For my usual clientele, I’d suggest their go-to audition song, but I don’t get the sense that you do much auditioning.”
There’s a long pause during which Stede takes note of the guy’s eyes. Not a literal case note, that would be inappropriate. His eyes are large and brown and expressive, quicksand eyes. Eyes a person could get lost in. Right now, they’re slightly narrowed at Stede. He seems to decide something.
“Listen,” the client says. “I appreciate you not wanting to make it weird, but I promise I’m used to it.”
“Used to it?” Stede asks, and there go the eyes again. Stede has the oddest sense of being taken apart, exposed, like the recurring dream he has of walking through the halls of his secondary school without a single stitch of clothing on, down to the same vague, unsettling sense that it should be more awkward than it is.

Last month I tweeted, "AU where Ed is a superfan of a sleeper hit tv show who delights in harassing the show's half-assed social media accounts. Stede runs the accounts, the only job his father (the owner of the evil media corporation) trusts him with. He's also a huge fan of the show, but is too under his father's thumb to promote it as it deserves to be promoted. And he's scared to confront what his love of this explicitly queer show means for his identity. He finds himself half in love with the user yelling at him, but does he have the courage to admit it and break free?" and it was BY FAR my most popular tweet to date. So now it's a fic.

Stede offers himself up to the Dread Pirate Blackbeard in exchange for freeing the rest of his people. He does not expect Blackbeard to propose marriage as a part of their agreement, but if it is a choice between the kind of monster Ned is and the kind of monster Blackbeard is, that is an exceedingly easy choice to make.

Summary
Ed’s fallen asleep again - he usually does once the port’s run dry. Stede had heard so many stories about the dread pirate Blackbeard as to paint a grisly picture: head curled in smoke, a murderous shadow looming over the deck, a gun in each hand and a knife between his teeth. It was all nonsense, of course, though Stede knows Ed can cut a fearsome figure if he wants to. He wonders at the songs they’d sing of Blackbeard now, head tucked gently into his chest, hair falling over his face like curtains.
Five times Stede wakes Ed up, and one time Ed returns the favor.

Summary
Ecologists by day, fic writers by night, fuck buddies for one month only (unless...)
Ed and Stede have been colleagues and best friends for years, working as ecologists to protect the environment. But lately it's all been more box-ticking, less actual saving the world, nothing like the dashing deeds of the eco-pirate heroes of their favourite television show, Tree Change.
If only they could be more like Tāne and Rupert. Their favourite characters are also lovers, and Ed and Stede have done their fair share of writing fic about them as an escape from their harder reality. Now Kinktober is coming up, and their first writing collaboration, and Stede, only out since last year, is worried about his lack of experience.
Ed’s only worried about how he can make Stede see the real feelings they so clearly have for each other, so it makes tactical sense to volunteer himself as a friends-with-benefits guide. They’ve just been handed a month on a remote property, where they’ll gradually begin to unveil a cover-up worthy of the villains on the show they love. And while they work to crack that puzzle, they'll also work their way through every possible kink, and find their way to much more than friendship...

“Oh Christ,” the man allegedly named Stede says, “I’ve messed this up already, haven’t I? I’m so sorry, Jeff, just forget I—hang on—damn.”
It's a glory hole meet-cute! Multiple chapters of Ed and Stede falling in love through a hole in a bathroom wall. Sex, feelings, pining, bad decisions -- all contained within. Now COMPLETE.

When Ed gets stuck behind the same slow driver for a long stretch of his road trip through the Pacific Northwest, that's one thing. When he finds himself at the same rest stop as the offending driver, it's quite another.
This Stede guy is a bit of a lunatic. But when Ed crosses paths with him again several days later, this time stranded on the side of the highway and in need of some assistance, Ed winds up on a slightly different road trip than the one he'd planned to take—with a man he absolutely doesn't plan to fall in love with.
Clearly, plans change.
