Summary
AU. Shane works at a coffee shop, goes to auditions, tries to get his personal life together, and has absolutely no idea how to say no to people. His life is already complicated enough when a Russian neighbor moves into the apartment across the hall.
Ilya Rozanov is a not-very-polite musician, a devoted fan of heavy eyeliner, and definitely not a fan of coffee. Also, apparently, a hundred percent straight.
Around the same time, anonymous gifts with handwritten notes start appearing outside Shane’s door.
If only he knew who they were from.

Summary
Scott knows he doesn’t have the monopoly on daddy issues in the league. He isn’t the only one who lost his father. Some of the international players can’t bring theirs over just for Dad’s Night. And some guys just plain didn’t get along with their dads. Still, every year this event was a shot of lemon juice into the never healing paper cut of Scott’s orphan trauma.
_____It’s Dad’s Night for the New York Admirals. Scott doesn’t have anyone to stand with him on the ice while his teammates stand with their fathers. At least, he thinks he doesn’t. George Grady is going to make sure Scott doesn’t have to stand alone.

Maybe if the video ended there, Shane thought, it would be okay. Okayish. Still incriminating. Still a fucking disaster. Still embarrassing, to have his breakup with this beautiful actress filmed and disseminated on Reddit of all fucking places, but not a nail in his coffin, burying him alive. But the video didn’t end there.
“Can I ask if you’ve ever been with another guy?” she had to ask.
And he, tears visible in his eyes, had to nod.
Just once. Just a single nod.
Why did he have to nod?
“Have you ever told anyone that before?” He shook his head. “Was it different? With a guy?”
“Of course.”
