SHIELD is gone, they found Bucky but all is not well with Clint.
He'd always wondered if his barcode came with an expiration date, now it looks like his time is up. His science experiment body is playing up. He needs to find answers if he wants to live.
At least that was the plan.Clint's sick, not that he can tell anybody. How can he explain that he shouldn't be getting sick in the first place without getting locked up in one of Ross' labs somewhere when word gets out?
He only wanted to get information. Stupid Rumlow. Stupid feelings.Really things would probably work out much better if Clint would actually use his words.

Some asshole opens a time portal and sends James Buchannon Barnes, who is in the midst of fighting a world war, about a hundred years into the future where Clint is nursing a broken ankle and a broken heart, and present Bucky hates his old flirty self a whole lot.

When an altercation with some powerful foes goes wrong for the former outlaws, they find themselves marooned in a place far stranger than they may at first realize. As expected for the bumbling boys they get themselves mixed up into some trouble the second they arrive. How well can they fare here when their world has, quite literally, turned inside out?
