Tim has been alone all his life, he can tell when someone else is in the vicinity, whether it be friend or foe. It only takes a second to realise security has been disabled and another short moment for the realisation that it's Red Hood who came to visit to sink in.
He gets shot as the distress signal is sent, and he knows he needs to distract Red Hood for as long as possible if he wants to survive this encounter.
And Tim figures, well, what’s a better and more horrifying distraction than the Joker? There really isn’t one.

Bernard used to not drink as much water, but Tim drinks enough water for three people a day so Bernard naturally has followed- and now Bernard has no acne so he’s sort of mad about it actually. “The main character has two hands.” Bernard chimes easy and teasing. “Polygamy is the awnser here babe.”

Amuro stepped back to look at the mobile suit he'd climbed out of. It reminded him of the RX-78 he had piloted during the One Year War. He had a hard time believing he'd been in it. Just looking at it overwhelmed him. He took a step away from it.
“You were in there too long,” Char said. “I couldn't get all of you out. You've regressed to the Amuro of five years ago. It's all ruined.”
While testing the Nu Gundam after Fifth Luna is dropped on Earth, an accident causes Amuro's consciousness to merge with the Psycho-Frames. Char leaves negotiations on Londenion to pull him back out, but the Amuro he gets is from Karaba, not Londo Bel. Not trusting the Federation, he leaves with Char.
