The city is unusually quiet tonight. Oh, sure, he’s had his usual crimes: muggings, drug deals, a few break ins. Nothing special. Nothing that could possibly explain the thread of tension winding through him, slowly tightening like a noose. Ever since last night, his spidey senses have set off at a low, maddening hum, distracting him, needling him, filling him with a restless energy that’s robbed him of restful sleep. He’s used to dealing with his super powered anxiety, but this feels different somehow. More ominous. And what’s weirder is that other people seem to be a little more wary, a little more on edge than usual, too. Cops, firefighters, even one of the guys Peter caught snatching a purse commented on it from his web cocoon on a street light.
“You feel that, Spidey? The city’s all weird tonight. Feels like the whole place is holding its breath, waiting on something.”

It sounds a little too much like a promise. It’s a little funny.
“You c-can’t do that,” Bruno stutters out, his voice catching on red-hot liquid dripping down his throat. It’d be embarrassing if he weren't preoccupied at the moment.
“I wasn’t askin’ you, I’m tellin’ you.”
It’s even funnier the second time.

Mirabel was often told the story. About how her mother would defend their town against these shadows. Together with her Tia Pepa and her Tio Bruno.
There was just one problem... Tio Bruno has been missing for the last fifteen years. Stolen by the shadow creatures... most likely killed.
One day Mirabel gets an idea. A terrible idea really. She can prove her worth by going to the forest herself and kill the creature that took her uncle all those years ago. However, the creature that Mirabel finds is not... Quite what she expected.
He looks terrifying yes. Like a monstrous human rat with green glowing eyes towering over Mirabel. But he's kind... He's sort of awkward. And is protecting the town with all of his might.Something here clearly isn't adding up.

His kidnapping, torture, and near-death experiences helped in that, but reuniting with his father and returning to his family’s loving embrace, Bruno was able to put those thoughts away. However, as the hefty and heavy hand of El Jefe covered his mouth and suppressed his screams, Bruno decided that while he might not be cursed, he was most definitely haunted.

Perhaps, so near sleep, his brain thought he was dreaming, because he was always paralysed by them. He was stuck to his chair, even as his eyes flew open, and he saw, in a brief glimpse before his vision fragmented, two faces, eerily green in the light from his eyes.
