Summary
Desperate to pull Ed back from the abyssal brink of the Kraken, Izzy makes a deeply guarded confession. Their long history together can’t open a path back in time to repair the damage, but it can help them chart a better course forward. That is, until Stede Bonnet returns from the grave with the marooned crew of the Revenge to interrupt and complicate their reconciliation.

“You should talk to him,” Izzy says in a low voice, resting a hand on Ed’s arm. “Privately.”
“What?” Ed scowls and flicks his eyes over to Stede, who is pretending not to be able to hear them from where he is admiring Mary’s painting.Izzy sighs. “It’s unresolved, Edward. Trust me, this isn’t the kind of thing to let fester.” He squeezes Ed’s arm gently. “Talk to him. Get the answers you need.”
Ed’s shoulders relax minutely, the hard set of his jaw loosening. Izzy crosses the cabin to Stede. He snaps his fingers and holds out his palm to Bonnet. “Knife.” He shoots a glance to Edward. “You, too.” Stede pulls his ornate dagger in its sheath from his belt and hands it over without a fuss. Ed does the same a bit more begrudgingly. “Don’t fucking kill each other.”Series

Post season 1 reunion fic with a focus on Stizzy/Gentlehands as a leadup to eventual Steddy Hands. Accuracy around history, piracy, and medicine are on the backburner. It's eventually very hopeful and loving, I think, but it takes a little while to get there. Check the notes at the beginning (and beginnings of each chapter) for more trigger/content warnings.

Nadja cackles. “Sure, the familiar is free. Funny.”
“Okay look, I am your servant, not your slave, there is a difference—“
“Yeah yeah sure, familiar rights and all that,” the Guide says dismissively. “They didn’t give your Dobby a shoe here—“
“Sock.”
“—They freed you from societal conventions.”
Guillermo heaves out a deep sigh. “Yeah, I don’t know what that means.”
“Basically, until we lift the curse, if you want to do something, you’re just going to do it. Doesn’t matter what it is.”
