Soap doesn’t remember the ambush outside Prague. He doesn’t remember the medevac, the surgery, or the two weeks he spent in a coma. What he does remember is Ghost’s face when he wakes, sitting at his bedside like he hasn’t moved in days.
Turns out, Ghost’s been listed as his “next of kin.” Which is strange, because Soap doesn’t remember marrying his lieutenant, either. However, hospitals only allow family to stay overnight, and Ghost wasn’t about to leave.
Now, as Soap learns to walk again, Ghost helps him eat, move, and stay awake. It’s supposed to be just for practicality and convenience.
But there’s nothing practical about the way Ghost looks at him or the way Soap looks back.
Recovery is messy. So is pretending not to care.

Things are much more complicated.
Spider-Man wanted to say something and make sure that corny line wouldn’t be the last one he heard, but his whole body felt like a bruise being pressed down. The man was opening his mouth to let out something evil and abnormally personal against Spider-Man, when a voice came down the dark alley.
“But the record keeps playing the same old song.” Spider-Man and the bad guy turned their heads to the mouth of the alley. They couldn’t see anyone, but the male voice sang on. “They say aha, aha. Keep your hands off my girl.”
Peter’s head thumped against the wall. “No. Just… no. Do me a favor, just crush my windpipe."

He wanted to look her in her eyes and tell her that time moved differently in The Void and because of that he’d been able to spend a glorious stretch getting dicked down nasty by Logan. So outrageously filthy it could only be ranked as catastrophic, Keter-class at the very least but he wouldn’t rule out Apollyon because it had been beyond reasonable containment. They had ruined a car, a couple trees and a once idyllic clearing and had probably scarred all manner of innocent wildlife, assuming there was any wildlife left after Logan had gone all feral hunt for a bit there.
