While obligatory, this series challenges a few pervasive narratives and hopes to rewrite foster aus as a concept through radical acceptance, diversity, and realistic healing.
Most people writing foster aus have no idea what they're doing. And tbf- that's okay. Most people aren't reading foster aus for accuracy. But as someone who is knowledgable about these systems and the trauma of foster care, I really wanted to see an au that tackled these concepts head on. So I did it myself.
Thus, encompass was born, a foster au that tackles topics such as

Tommy finally found him by the beach. They hadn't been back there in what felt like forever, it seemed like years ago Tommy had found the older male injured and bleeding in the forest.
"So, you've been here all day," The blonde said to announce his presence but the other didn't seem to notice or bother signaling he did. Tommy took a careful step forward but stopped a few feet away from the seated male. "Everyone's been worried,"
"They shouldn't be," Dream said softly. Tommy frowned. He took notice the other's mask was resting on the ground to his left and felt his confusion rise.
"Why not?" He decided to humor the other. Dream sighed heavily and looked up to the sky causing his hood to pool around his shoulders.
"Am I a bad person, Tommy?" The teen's heart stopped, Dream went on. "Did I really do all those bad things?" His head lowered once more and his shoulders shook slightly.
"How bad did I hurt you?" He whispered.

George’s presence smothers him in the most delightful way possible. His arms are around Dream’s torso, his face buried in his chest, and he might be laughing, or crying, Dream can’t tell. All he knows is George is beguilingly warm and familiar and comfortable, and Dream has a hand in his hair and it’s so smooth, and he thinks for a second that he might pass out.
Then, George tilts his head up, puts his chin on Dream’s chest, looks up at him with eyes carrying the whole universe, and Dream falls apart right there, in the middle of Orlando International Airport, with his best friend in his arms and nothing but an overpriced airport coffee in his system.
