Summary
A hand grasped his arm, sending a brief thrill down Merlin's nerves as he was forced around to face the person behind him. Armour gleamed in the firelight: supple chainmail glinted, and the solid iron of a pauldron curved lovingly over one broad shoulder. The length of a sword blade separated them. The point hovered, steady and sure, over Merlin's heart, braced to run him through, but he did not care about any of that. He was too busy drinking in the sight of the man before him.
He could never forget him, no matter how many centuries had passed.

When Merlin ultimately fails in his destiny, the fading remnants of magic that linger in the modern world fling him not just back in time, but sideways as well. He ends up in a Camelot where all his friends are alive, well and aware of his magic.

Zuko had never excelled at anything. Azula was a prodigy. Uncle always knew what to say. And Father... Father was strong, iron-like. But Zuko had only ever been good at surviving. Putting one foot in front of the other in a grim show of stubborn determination, gritting his teeth and bearing it. Survival was all he had ever been taught. He knew how to do it. So when he was kidnapped by the Southern Water Tribe, he expected to fight as he always had. He didn’t expect to be taught instead how to live.
In a warring land, the Water Tribe forgave the enemy in an act of defiance. For this, he was torn from them, and this time, his wounds won't heal so easily.
Forced back into nothing but survival, the last person Zuko expected to see was Hakoda's son. Hakoda was a promise of safety. The relentless blue of Sokka’s eyes was a promise of happiness. Zuko could have both if he just reached out his hands, but he found them clutching into fists. After all, he’d been burned one too many times.
But hey, at least between Hakoda and Sokka, Zuko could appreciate the family resemblance of pure, asinine stubbornness.

“Up. Stand up.” The voice was steady. Sam holstered his gun slowly and raised his hands. “Shit, I said up, before I kill you right here.”
Sam got a foot under himself and stood. The barrel of the gun stayed pressed into his neck, warming against his skin.
"Face me.”
Sam turned, heels close to the edge of the cliff. His eyes tracked past the pistol looming close, to the man holding it. He looked about how Sam would expect. A dark bandana covered his face, and long greasy hair hung loose under his hat, almost to his shoulders. His shirt and pants may have been black once, but now they were the color of sweat, and grime, and dust from the road. There was a large knife strapped to his right thigh. He looked like the kind of man who could get a jump on Sam, who would make good on his promise to shoot, who knew how to survive. He spoke in a low growl.
“I know you’re tracking Pierce. Just stop and we won’t have a problem. He’s mine.”

Sam's a bounty hunter on the trail of a dangerous gang leader when he meets Bucky, who is after the same man - for far more personal reasons.
