I meant it, haunted as I was by the unshakable earnestness of youth, but you decided it was a joke. Pulled my hair and pretended to smack me. Maybe it was easier that way, looking at each other without facing ourselves. So I laughed. Acted like it hurt.

This... behemoth of a story is a work of art. H/G which I don't even normally read. It's hard to read and I have to say I REALLY depended on authors tags that everything would be OK in the end because oh boy it was a journey. I LOVED the glimpses into the future and then diving back into the past. I CRIED when James was born. I felt the emotions they were feeling. I hated the Weasley parents for not doing more. I felt joy when Harry got his wins. I felt Mia's grief when she left. This deserves to be bound and printed and on people's bookshelves. The incredible saturation of world building and detail draws you in and won't let you go. You'll come out on the other side, thinking about this for days and nights.
(And, yeah, he’s got a plan for Alecto Carrow, too, but he’d rather not say.)
Later, he tells her she is the reason he’s alive. Without much preamble, without much of anything - she is the reason he made it. And, they might not have been soulmates but they were something, and he wants her to know that. He wants her to know that and she smiles, and nods and tells him: ‘Did it never occur to you you’re the reason I’m alive, too? I think we both needed each other, Harry.’
‘I can follow orders if they make sense.’
'Just burn everything to the ground, alright?'
