“How can I not be telling you something when you don’t even know what to ask, Nico?”

“There’s something you’re not telling me— and I might have an idea as to what it is.” Vash’s heart nearly palpates from the confrontation, and Wolfwood can feel it as he continues to tug at the strings of his body. “You are terrified of getting shot, and of the aftermath… but I think even my presence right now is why you’re trembling so much. Is that right?”
Vash’s throat turns dry, and he clears his throat. He wants to say something back, anything— but he is speechless. He grips his fists into the sheets of the bed, feeling something similar to being taken down a peg or two.
Wolfwood sees the burning pique in Vash’s eyes and heartily sighs. “Blondie, I don’t think any less of you because of that. I think allowing yourself to be vulnerable shows that you are strong. And you are very strong, my friend.”

Vash gets shot, Wolfwood takes care of him, and what happens after that is the start of them falling hopelessly in love with each other.
