Summary
The day after Scar breaks up with Grian, the dead come back to life. Knowing that venturing out alone is a death sentence, the sudden onset of the apocalypse forces them to stick together despite the tensions between them. In the wreckage of the world, they're forced to survive side-by-side, coming to terms with the fact that—try as they might—there's no one they trust more than each other.
“Go!” Grian shouts as the monster charges, putting his whole force into the blow.
Scar watches, frozen stiff as Grian fights until blood and gore and viscera mark the creature up like a Pollock painting.
“What are you waiting for?!” Grian snaps when he finally notices that Scar is still standing there. He grips his weapon tight and attacks a final time, slamming the zombie down—good and dead—and standing panting over top of it, strained but victorious. He starts rushing from the scene, calling back for Scar over his shoulder. “Run!”
And in a way that’s as familiar to him as breathing, Scar chases after him.

Grian has to navigate around the fact that he can't seem to arrest Scar despite him being his greatest enemy, something keeps stopping him, whether it be timing or strange thoughts and feelings, perhaps working with him could prove more useful then arresting him.

He sighs and begins to take notes on the mutilation and how she was killed. He sketches out the claw marks and notes the clean cuts. "Thanks Gem," he says as he leaves the morgue. As he was leaving, he decides to investigate the dump site. It was the same as last time, so it was the ditch off of the south part of the woods. He looks down into the ditch, the dry dirt crumbling beneath his feet, sending him sliding to the bottom.
He surveys the ground for anything that could tell him what happened to the poor girl, but upon first glance he could find nothing. Upon looking more closely, he finds a large red feather the size of his arm. It was the same bright red as the feathers of tropical birds that he would see in the documentaries he likes to watch.

In the town of Hermitville, there is a forest, and inside that forest lays many untold mysteries. Signs line the forest edge, warning people not to enter, for everyone who does never returns. A detective named Grian Sparrow decides to take up the case, only to find a man living in the woods who seems to be a little ways past odd. The man hovering over him leaned back, releasing Grian completely. Cold night air rushed in to fill the void.
“I guess it’s out in the open now,” the stranger hummed. “Shame. I wanted to avoid this.”
With the additional glow occupying the space between them, Grian was finally able to catch features that were lost in the prior darkness. His curiosity outweighed all else, and he drank them in greedily. As soon as he saw who sat across from him, alarms blared in his mind.
This man wasn’t a civilian, wasn’t even a hero.
“Hello, Doctor,” the villain mused. “You were quite the help today.”

“How do I know?” The kid spits, knife raised again, trembling violently. His eyes are wet, angry and pleading and piercing right down into Grian’s soul.
“...If I can fly?” Grian asks, confused. His heart is beating fast.
The boy shakes his head violently, taking a lurching step forward, now only a few feet away. Something about his eyes almost seems familiar, but the thought is fleeting. The knife looks sharp. The child is crying, slow tears that barely have an effect on his voice.
“No,” the kid says forcefully. “How do I know you’re not a zombie?”

A young Scar fresh from a world overtaken by zombies stumbles through The Rift onto Hermitcraft, and is quickly adopted by the rest of the Hermits, who have no idea who he actually is.

Grian rolled his eyes but indulged the hero. He slotted his hand through the man's arm and gave him a questioning smile, "Seriously, why do you keep calling me that?"
Hotguy gave a sly smile but nothing else, letting the professor's question be left on a cliffhanger.

Grian just can't get a break. He works a double life, has to deal with an annoying hero cop, and now there's someone or something following his every move. So, being the idiot he is, does everything in his power to ignore such. Unfortunately, that can not be done for long no matter how hard he tries.
