Summary
The view from the staircase is, well, not stunning, that’s definitely not the word. It’s just that “view” is supposed to be accompanied by “stunning,” and Luz can feel her brain coming to a screeching halt and refusing to process what they’re seeing.
It's skeletons. Come on, they both knew it was going to be skeletons. The entire Isles know at this point.(Or: despite what the stories would have you believe, in the aftermath, there are things to deal with. Those things include ruined infrastructure, electing new leaders, and prosecuting those responsible for the old regime. And apparently, also Grimwalker mass graves.)

To put it lightly, Belos’ mind is a hellscape. To put it nicely, Belos is one fucked-up dude. Luz goes from following the half-existing ghost-child, skipping around suspiciously person-shaped goop, to staring down a very real woman, with real skin that’s pinking, flushed, when she notices Luz; curly, red hair falling down her back and green eyes and a nose with a shape that Luz knows from somewhere, from someone.
Hollow Mind, but make it Ariannafied. There is Wrath TM in this bad boy.

Summary
As he lifted the glass to his lips, Hunter was struck first by the smell: sweet like fruit left to blacken and wither in the sun, with a chemical undertone reminiscent of the wing where the Potions Coven kept their workshops. It made his nose scrunch in distaste, but he tilted his head back regardless, and swallowed the stuff in one gulp.
Belos sits Hunter down to discuss a mission gone awry.

Summary
Belos was wrong about a lot of things (things Hunter couldn’t start to wrap his head around yet, much less accept), but he was right when he said the Boiling Isles were a place of chaos. Titan’s sake, there was a whole coven dedicated to making reality seem different to what it really was.
So even if Hunter looked like a normal witch, with pointed ears and warm skin and a heart that pumped blood through his chest - that was irrelevant.
That was just the surface.-
