Somewhere else, Wilbur Soot succeeds.)Tommy relived the moment L'Manburg blew up every time he closed his eyes, whether it was to blink, or to sleep. He heard the screams, cut off before they could even gain any true weight by detonations so loud that his ears still rung. He saw Tubbo, wide eyed and petrified as realization dawned. He knew he saw none of it, and yet it was so clear that it haunted him. A wretched dream, made worse by the guilt that plagued his every breath.
Out of all the people to survive. Out of everyone.
Why was it them?
Or
Wilbur blows everything to hell on the day of the Manburg festival, just like he wanted. When the ashes settle, it's just Tommy and Technoblade. It's just them, healing up in a world that never wanted them.
(And then it isn't, and the world is already upside down, so it only makes sense for gravity to give up on them entirely.)

Tommy had officially gone too far and he was beyond apologies. Dream needed to make him pay and show L'Manberg once and for all who was the true one in charge. However, exiling a winged creature proves to be difficult, so how do you ground a bird?
You clip their wings.
In clipping their wings, you strip them of all pride and Tommy is left a simple husk of who he once was. He just wanted to go home, but was there a home left for him?

Tommy's feet drag in the snow.
It's so, so cold. He's so cold. His toes are freezing. His exposed shins feel like they’ve been cut open-- even the one that’s bandaged. His wings have gone numb, which is almost, almost good, because now he can’t feel the shifting, broken bones inside of the left one, just under feathers and muscle.
He doesn’t know why he’s still walking.

Or, Tommy leaves the exploded ruins of Logstedshire behind, and walks until he finds somewhere safe.
And things keep going from there.
(A canon-divergent AU, splitting off somewhere around when Tommy started hiding out below Techno's house.)
