Summary
Zuko and Azula never fall for the rivalry their parents seem set on and grow up closer than they are told they should be, loving each other the only way they know how. Fully willing to burn and be burned for their other half. They make a good team, until Zuko is burned and banished and Azula is alone, outraged (scared), in the weasel-snake den. With her careful instructions, Zuko is able to be presumed missing on his quest for the Avatar and begin his life as a pirate, wrecking havoc on all sides of the war.
Azula's brother refuses to rule ashes by her side and she refuses to let anyone besides herself upset him this much, so the war must end. Her spies spread the rumor that he lives and the Fire people hold out hope for their beloved prince and saving grace. Zuko becomes the captain of 青い炎, or Aoi Honō, Blue Spirit, and Phoenix Prince while Azula becomes the monster that everyone fears. As Zuko is joining and teaching the Avatar, Azula is manipulating her way through conniving nobles and convincing her father the weapon he raised isn't a threat to him. After all, when has a monster of a daughter and a useless son ever overthrown their Fire Lord?

They don’t have enough money, or enough supplies, or enough rum in the galley, and Zuko is their captain. Uncle says they’ll figure something out at the next port, and that he should not worry about it because he’s “fourteen” and “too young” to do so.
(He has never been too young for this. If he were too young, then he wouldn’t be scarred and scared and scouring the scorched globe for a century-old legend, and his father would be telling him to come home.)
At the next port, he slips into town with another face plastered upon his own and two silver swords hefted across his back, and seeks gold.

Summary
