Summary
A year after joining the good side, Superman still struggles to give Conner what he needs, in large party thanks to the boy's heart drifting from time to time back to Lex. Now, with a new threat looming, they have to ask for the villain's help at a party hosted by him, and Conner has to be the one to convince him, however, he takes that opportunity to get some closure with the villain he called father once, and maybe, potentially save his life.
But someone else close to Lex has sights set on the boy, and after an emotionally charged conversation, that someone tries to kill him.

To her left, Jason Todd sits there at the bar idly, not looking at her as he lights up a cigarette. Instead of looking smug, he blinks slowly, clearly not bothered and half present. His hands are haphazardly bandaged, and Kara can see his knuckles are bruised and raw.

Tim had launched forward, slamming his head into concrete even before he really registered that he was awake at all. Falling back down hurt just as badly, head spinning as his ears rang loudly.
Trying to calm himself, Tim breathed deeply only to find that he couldn’t. His chest was… There was something on it, something far too heavy. It could very well be what he had just hit his head on but when Tim tried to shift it off of him, it didn’t so much as budge.
Tim couldn’t breathe, and as every super genius knows, you need to breathe to keep being a super genius.
“Crap…” Tim wheezed.

XStarts with my take on Kara returning from the Phantom Zone after being forced there by Lex, except she didn't reunite with her father (because I can't be bothered to explore that), so she spent the time alone (much longer here than in the show) and it's really messed with her head.
The story explores Kara's struggle with her Supergirl identity as she battles with emotional trauma, alongside her developing relationship with Lena.
