“Do you wash your hair?” He asks, somewhat rhetorically. The answer probably isn’t something he wants to hear. His fingers continue to card through the knots to the best of his ability but soon enough one particular snag holds him up. He puts the brush on the ground next to him, using the now-free hand to aid in pulling at the knot. It gives him a closer look, eyes widening at the sight. “Is that a fucking stick?”
Hyrule tips his head back into the veteran’s hands, bringing up his own to sign, “For safekeeping.”
“Why on earth would you need a stick for safekeeping?” Legend questions.
The traveller’s face is completely serious when he replies, “For the birds.”

"It only took them a few moments to realize something was wrong after the last of the monsters fell to their blades, but there is no telling how long Hyrule had been missing before then. None of them know. Wild is likely the last one who saw him, as he mentioned that Hyrule was at his side when the second wave of monsters came in, but that still doesn’t give them anything definitive, as Wind admitted he didn’t even realize there had been a second wave. Even Time and Warriors are unsure, the latter suggesting the second wave could have occurred anywhere from fifteen to twenty minutes previous. And that really influences how far the Hero of Hyrule could've gone.
Hyrule is missing."
(Or: Hyrule goes missing after getting separated from the Chain after an intense battle and Legend fails miserably at not blaming himself for the whole thing.)

“I can’t… make it.”
Legend didn't answer. He simply got a better grip on the old man's arm and waist, dragging him from spite alone. That bastard wasn't going to die on his watch.
They just had to find Hyrule or anyone else who still had some potions left. Better, a fairy.
“Vet-”
“Shut up.”
“Can you… tell Malon…”
“No, you'll tell her yourself. Do I look like a postman?”
Time sighed, but whether it was from exasperation or

I've had worse, my ass! Shouldn't have wasted your last potion on me,” he ranted, if only to fill it, but he couldn't help his voice breaking near the end.“That's… not a… waste.”
His eyes’ widened. So, not incoherent just yet, then. He shouldn’t be taken aback; them heroes were tough, but they still each had their limits- something he was uncomfortably aware of at the moment. Legend opened his mouth to retort, but a wolf cry made him clamp down before a word was out. With one hand, he took hold of his fire rod- it would be more effective than his sword in his position, even if he was also low on magic.
“Y’think this is Wolfie? Or more trouble?”

Awake…~
All jokes about taking their sweet time died away on the heroes’ lips when the sight of the crying Veteran leaning over their too-pale leader and singing frantically greeted the group of heroes. A few seconds after, the ‘pop’ of a bottle resounded loudly in the near-silence surrounding them, and a fairy swiftly headed towards the Hero of Time.
“…Stay with me-”
An alarmed tinkling came out of the little one as she began twirling. No one could bring themselves from breaching the song with any sound or movement, and the tension racked them all. The old man couldn’t just… die, could he?
“By my side-”
The fairy turned around the fallen hero one last time before flying away. They all held their breath, wondering if they had been too late- fairies could do quite the miracles, but how long had he been..?
“Never leave-”
Whether it was or not the last lyrics of the song, the words died out there. The pink-haired hero clang to the old man, who had regained a little colour- but there was no sign of movements.
Then, a raspy voice murmured, “I’m not… going anywhere.”
