“He’s my brother,” she said.
“Yes,” Percy said back.
“He…if we’re successful, he won’t live past this year.”
“Yes.”
“And if we aren’t, the world will end.”
“Yes.”
“I want to world to end,” she whispered. “I don’t want to live in a world without him.”
Percy put a hand on her back, and when she began to cry, he pulled her into his arms. “I’m sorry, Vex. I’m sorry.”
“It was right there,” she breathed between sobs, wanting to choke on her own words. “It was right there, in my stupid soulmark. It was right there, all along. He was going to die first. And then…and then you would, and you would see him for me.”
Percy nodded. His own body was starting to shake as well.
“We knew that I wouldn’t live as long as you,” he tried. “I’m human.”
“I know,” she said, “I know. But I wish you weren’t. And I wish Vax wasn’t going to die either.”

Some may be given a glimpse... those whose Threads guide the pattern... Leaders, Heroes, the Fate-Touched... But even they cannot know everything...
Percival de Rolo has been serving as Lord of Whitestone since the sealing of Vecna a couple of years back, and aside from the occasional "Reunion Adventure" with Vox Machina for a couple of weeks here and there, he has retired from such things. His Thread is woven through the heart of Whitestone, as it has been since his birth, despite its forced divergence, thanks to the Briarwoods. But their threads were cut, and no longer entangled themselves with his in the Tapestry of the World.
At least, that's what he believed. But his Thread is still snarled within theirs, their thorns tangling his skein, determined to weave for him another destiny and change the image of the Tapestry, both of his life and the world. Even the Threads of Vox Machina may not be enough to untangle him from their thorns. It will take a Fate-Touched and his Matron to re-weave Percy's Thread.
