Zuko was cast out of the fire nation without warning, without a crew, and worse without his uncle. His father had made his mission more then impossible, and with a fresh burn covering a third of his face he wasn't sure how far he could make it. When he gets offered a chance to escape the hell inflicted on him he takes it and doesn't look back.
3 years later he's living a new life with a new name. The town's people don't care that he can light a candle across the room when he's been helping heal their wounds for so long. But someone does care, and that someone needs a teacher.

That was two weeks ago. Iroh and Zuko are delighted, and Sokka is delighted that they're delighted.
Only problem is? Sokka and Lu Ten do not get along.
At all.... Until an assassination attempt comes a little too close to success, leaving Zuko badly injured.
It turns out Sokka and Lu Ten get along pretty well when they're going on a roadtrip across the Fire Nation to hunt down the person who almost killed their precious turtleduck.

Summary
Zuko returns to the Fire Nation victorious, having captured the Avatar who managed to escape from the Pohuai Stronghold. He knows everything will return to normal now that he is the Crown Prince once again. But there are words. Words from the mouths of servants and maids, about the Avatar being tortured and his own uncle committing treason by attempting to break him out. Zuko doesn’t believe it but he has to check, because his uncle has gone missing for a while. And in the dungeons starts a conversation, one that changes Zuko’s path forever.

Maybe it had something to do with the fact that he’d been in panic mode since waking up, but Zuko feels the horror flood his veins like ice water. Painful, sharp, inescapable, freezing him in place. His breaths come in short, inefficient pants that he needed to get under control or he was going to pass out. He really did not want to have a panic attack in public, let alone at his place of work. The second one of the day even, fuck.
But then a savior appeared.
