Half a year is how long it takes for Yelena to be afraid of what Bob means to her. She's pretty sure fighting isn't her best option anymore.

But at least, after all these years, the pack is finally back together. Then, one day, Sansa disappears.

Summary
There's a lot of expectation attached to Steve Rogers' name. It's taken him years to prove his own worth - that he's made it so far in the USNA on his own merit and not just because of his father. He's close though - there are only a few more months until he graduates and gets to stand on his own two feet. It's taken a lot of effort to get there, and a lot of sacrifices.
Bucky's beyond the point of expectation. When your father and grandfather have both been President - and your mother nurses political ambitions of her own - brilliance is a foregone conclusion. He's just counting down the final months of his confinement to the glass cage of the White House and he's determined to put that whole world behind him.
But as the days standing between them and their dreams dwindle, Steve comes to realize he might have made one sacrifice too many, and Bucky learns that his freedom comes at a cost he's never going to be able to pay.

The three of them chat for a few minutes before Bucky commandeers the tennis ball and the dog, and leaves Steve and Tess to talk, in favor of a rambunctious game of fetch. They make small talk for a few minutes before Tess asks, “So how long have you two been dating?”
Steve freezes.
“We’re not…uh…together,” he finally stammers.
“You’re not?” She sounds confused.
He shakes his head, trying to swallow the lump in his throat. “Why did you think…?”
(Am I staring too much? Am I flirting? Do I blush when he speaks?) Steve’s halfway through an anxiety attack when Tess shrugs and says, “Just something about the way he looks at you.”

Weeks of pain and months of missing Steve and his mouth and the stupid shit that comes out of it; years of molding himself to his back at night and pretending there’s nothing else to it apart from sharing warmth; a decade of his stomach twisting with the foolish desire to make Steve laugh.
