Caitlyn inhaled sharply as Vi advanced on her, stumbling back slightly at the suddenness of the movement, her butt hitting the edge of her desk as Vi crowded her against it.
“Tell me, cupcake…” Vi drawled, hands caging Caitlyn in on either side of the desk, her voice lowering.
“Did you fuck her 'cause you wanted to forget me?” Vi smirked, tilting her head, her voice rough. “Or did you imagine it was me the whole time?~”
Caitlyn’s breath hitched, her eyes widening at Vi’s questions before her pupils dilated and she swallowed, the tension between them thickening.
Caitlyn’s voice was low, her eyes locked onto Vi as she whispered her answer, licking her lips.
“Both…”

A flurry of butterflies take flight in her guts and she feels her cheeks heat both at the press of Caitlyn’s hand on her shoulder and the sight of her. You’ve been practicing, Vi aches to say, but doesn’t. She’s thin in the cheeks, and the soft skin beneath her eyes is bruised dark from a lack of sleep. That thrills Vi too, though it shouldn’t. Can’t sleep? Vi wants to croon. Doesn’t, because her mouth feels sewn shut at the sight of her here.

The worst part about feeling the hard butt of Caitlyn’s gun shoved into her gut was that Vi could still remember the ghost of Caitlyn’s lips against her own, a kiss that Vi had wrongfully interpreted as a promise.
The only thing promised in life was change, and boy, did Vi fucking hate change.

The Enforcer stands, cracking her neck as she does. She snickers slightly, eyes darting up and down Caitlyn’s form. She steps closer, before she’s face to face with Caitlyn, leering down at her. Caitlyn immediately slides back into a defensive stance, ready for another fight no matter what her aching body says. The Enforcer just shakes her head.
“You’ll never be one of us.” She whispers, before whipping around and stalking off the arena. Caitlyn watches her go for a moment, before turning back to the crowd.
or; Caitlyn is no stranger to loneliness. So why is it so hard to grapple with anyway?

Fresh out of Stillwater and clinging to the knowledge her sister is still alive, Vi struggles to reconcile the life she’s returned to with the life she was torn out of.
