Summary
When Vash the Stampede was shot six times on the back, ran until he could reach a small town by the outskirts of December and passed out from blood loss and exhaustion, he did not expect to be saved by a kind woman from the Hopleand Orphanage. To pay his debt with her, he is offered to help around the orphanage, becoming a temporary caretaker. The kids love him, they enjoy being with him and claim that he is their favorite from all of the adults. However, when a Priest and a Deacon come to their doors unexpected, Vash suspects that he may have competition for the kids favoritism.
On the other hand, the Priest is curious to know more about the new face around the place, rather than participating in a competition he is not even aware he's a part of.

One day, strange portals started appearing around Red Grave City and it's surroundings. No one knows from where they belong, nor where do they lead to, but they only know that, when the DMC crew finds them, they are already closed, or dissapeared, leaving strange markings on the walls that they were on. No one has an explanation, just that if you hear closely to an already closed portal, you can hear someone crying and words that no one can decipher.
This has been a recent discovery for all the devil hunters, but the problems is that, these portals, were there since ages ago, and no one noticed until now...

As he slowly stepped closer, his eyes traced over the mangled halo of spattered blood encircling the Russian’s head. It was hard to tell if the man had noticed Ogata’s approach or not. He certainly wasn’t reacting to him. Although he appeared to be at least semi-conscious, and his breathing was very labored. Ogata couldn’t blame him. The pain must’ve been excruciating. Judging by the placement of the entry wound, most of his back teeth must’ve been completely shattered, in addition to a partially – or even fully severed tongue.
He might never be able to talk normally again. He might also be forced to eat only soft foods for the rest of his life. The thought made Ogata smile. He wanted a closer look at the wounds. If he tilted the Russian’s head the right way, would his fragmented teeth fall out of his mouth? Maybe even his gnarled tongue? Ogata felt giddy just thinking about it.
