Ever since Tim brought Bruce back from the timestream, he’s drawn up walls to prevent himself from ever being hurt again. When a new case finds its way into Tim’s hands, he’s determined to solve it alone. After all, that's how he's been doing things lately, and after losing the mantle of Robin, he’s been closing more than ever – and definitely NOT because he thinks he still has something left to prove to his family.
But when the case appears to be more problematic than it first appears, well… he might have no choice but to work with his family again. The next thing he knows, he's being tossed across the multiverse (unwillingly) on a family adventure. Yeah, avoiding them may be a bit of a problem. There are eight million reasons for that, starting with his complete lack of spare time and his family history of alcoholism and continuing all the way to the fact that since he became Commissioner, he can’t really walk into a cop bar without ruining the night off for everybody there.
Also, pretty much all his friends are either dead or a thousand miles away, and Batman really doesn’t go out for drinks.

“There’s no point!” Jason snaps. “I can feel it, okay. It’s—there’s no emotion behind it, it’s not using my thoughts. It’s just a bunch of weird Greek echoing in my brain and a compulsion to act. And it’s getting stronger. Talking isn’t going to slow it down.”
“Then what will slow it down?”
After five long seconds of silence, Tim gives into the urge and viciously jabs his fist into Jason’s leg for the second time.
“Goddammit, why?” Jason snaps, green briefly sparking in his eyes before disappearing just as quickly.
“You are not seriously going to just sit there and wait to die.”
“The hell do you care anyway?”
“Because I don’t want you to die! Obviously!”

Now that the JLA knows that Batman is actually a Tired Dad, they can’t help but turn their eyes to Gotham. The Batkids are concerning, a nightmare is unfolding in Gotham and Batman is compromised. Determined to follow protocol, the JLA steps in to help. However, the Batkids are not okay with this and will not allow the JLA control of Gotham or of them.
Or, the Batkids continue to annoy the league and learn they may have overreacted, the league learns that being a parent is hard and they may have taken this following protocol thing too far and everyone learns that relationships take work.
