Summary
CASTIEL, the Complex Artificial Symbolic and Tactile Intelligence capable of Emotional Learning, is a personal AI under development at The Sandover Corporation. In hopes of impressing the company’s leadership, Sam’s tech team spends the summer of 2032 installing CASTIELs in the homes of executives. Dean, a Senior Vice President of Marketing who happens to be Sam’s workaholic older brother, is one of those executives.
Though Dean starts out skeptical of personal AIs, he and CASTIEL soon become fast friends, and Dean begins developing a new marketing strategy for CASTIEL that emphasizes the bonds between machines and humans. But when the board of directors finally makes good on a threat to shutter the CASTIEL program permanently, Dean has to rely on all his skills as a marketer to get them to change course and save CASTIEL.

Summary
Castiel Shurley, pen name Castiel Novak, was once a confessional poetry wunderkind. Now, though, he’s 34 and hasn’t published a new collection in almost seven years. He can bemoan the vagaries of writer’s block and the challenges of parenting a teenage son while teaching full-time all he wants, but excuses aren’t going to impress his agent, his publisher, or his tenure committee. He’s in serious danger of becoming a washed-up literary fluke before even seeing middle age.
At the end of his rope, Castiel repairs to his sister Anna’s vacation home on Lake Pend Oreille, hoping a change of scenery will ungum his creative works. On one of their first trips into town, Jack strikes up a conversation in the parking lot of the local grocery store with the most beautiful man Castiel has ever seen, and that’s when Castiel feels it: his muse coming back after a half-decade of dormancy.
No matter what, he has to see this man again somehow. Too bad he has no idea who he is.

Summary
The Winchesters are hunters who subsist on the animals around their forest home. For as long as Dean can remember, they’ve been favored by Castiel, the God of the Hunt. They aren’t wealthy, but they’ve never gone hungry, and there’s even enough money for John to send Sam to school.
Lately, though, that’s been changing. They’re bringing in less and less game, and John says it’s because Castiel is displeased with them. His hunch is seemingly confirmed when Sam is abducted one day.
When Dean journeys to the Virgin Grove to plead for his brother’s life, however, Castiel informs him that Sam has in fact been taken by Lucifer, the God of the Dead, as part of an ancient settlement that maintains peace among the pantheon. A desperate Dean pledges his soul to Castiel if the Wild God helps him rescue Sam from his fate. Castiel accepts, and the two set out on an adventure that will change them both.

Summary
A few weeks after rescuing Dean from Hell, Castiel begins to pay him nocturnal visits in hopes of curing his nightmares. Mixing the hunter's memories and his own experiences, he constructs sanctuaries in Dean's mind: a greasy spoon in New Mexico, a ski lodge in Colorado, a moonlit beach in Hawaii. Here, far from the impending apocalypse, the angel and the Righteous Man get to know each other in a world all their own.
As the rising of Lucifer grows closer, so do Dean and Castiel. Torn between his feelings for Dean and his fear of hurting him irrevocably, Castiel makes a fateful decision.
For over a decade, Castiel keeps this decision a secret. Then, The Empty comes for him.

Summary
Things are a little awkward in the bunker after they get Castiel out of the Empty, what with his last words to Dean being a confession of his undying love and Dean being hopeless at talking about feelings. Sam, thinking that a trip away from everything will force them to communicate, wrangles everyone into the Impala for a trip to Colorado: camping, fishing, and—most importantly—no nearby hallway for one of them to turn down when they see the other coming.
At minimum, he just wants the bunker to feel less weird all the time. But if his brother also managed to get his head out of his ass and admit that what’s between him and Castiel isn’t completely one-sided, that would be gravy.

Summary
Immediately after his ascension, Jack resurrects his father from the Empty and stitches him up better than new. Castiel is elated that Jack has created the future he knew he would; what he’s less enthusiastic about is his son’s philosophy of nonintervention on Earth. Especially since Dean is in danger.
Luckily, a story about their past together is enough to bring Jack around. After Castiel returns to Earth and delivers swift justice to those who would harm his beloved, he returns to the bunker with the brothers. There, he tells Dean the same story he told Jack, and realizes in the telling that it means even more than he knew.

Summary
Dean is sixteen when he falls for a guy for the first time. He’s a cowboy with careless dark hair and blue eyes as warm and bright as the endless Texas sky.
It doesn’t happen again until Castiel. Dean has a type, apparently.
