"I brought the patterns you requested," Himeko announced, setting a leather portfolio on Mei's desk with the precise timing of someone who'd been waiting outside to make a dramatic entrance. "Also, I brought myself because Yuzu texted me something about a 'collaboration opportunity' and I know from experience that 'collaboration opportunity' in her vocabulary translates to 'please help me sell my crazy idea before Mei shoots it down.'"
"It translates differently for different people!" Yuzu called. "For investors it translates to 'return potential.' For Mei it translates to 'she cares about the creative vision."
"And for you?" Mei asked sweetly.
"For me it translates to 'free lunch and an excuse to leave the house.' I haven't worn real pants in three days..."

"They had done this before, many times, in hidden books and locked rooms. But each time felt new, charged with the electricity of their connection, the knowledge that what they had was forbidden and precious and entirely their own.

Summary
Yuzu, Mei, and all their closest friends in their inner circle have been invited to the Tenth Annual Music Awards Japan, where Matsuri and her band Tokyo Pussy are performing, and are A-listers to receive song of the year. An unexpected invitation to an incredible event.
But Matsuri is Matsuri. And before the night is over, everyone will be questioning everything they thought was settled and done.

Yuzu groaned dramatically. "Oh no, we're not opening that vault."
"They gave me a very expensive pen as a 'welcome gift,'" Mei continued, her voice dripping with mock solemnity. "And you stood up and announced, 'My girlfriend could do their entire job with her eyes closed and one hand tied behind her back. You should be paying her for the privilege.'"
"I was being supportive!"
"You were being banned from that conference room for six weeks..."

Yuzu snorted. “We burned it. In the gym showers, with a lighter. Smelled like plastic and rebellion.”

Every now and then Yuzu would point out a particularly photogenic branch, snapping pictures and making Mei pose with increasingly ridiculous instructions.
“Now, tilt your head juuust a bit to the left. Pretend you’ve just been propositioned to by, I don’t know, a very persuasive, horny squirrel.”
Mei’s deadpan expression didn’t change, though it took effort. Yuzu was at her most lovably outrageous. “You’re not allowed to direct my facial expressions with lecherous squirrel scenarios.”...

Phone vibrates.
Harumin: "So is this a hot date, or like our usual hangout-but-actually-date? Cause, baby...
