Summary
Eddie placed a joint between his lips and patted himself down trying to find a lighter. Steve pulls one out from his pocket. He lights the joint while it is in Eddie's mouth. It was an oddly intimate moment for two guys but Steve would push it down until the day he died.
As Steve took the joint and placed it between his own lips he was very aware of how Eddie's lips were on it. He's shared joints with many people. But this time was different.

“Not that I don’t appreciate the, uh, sweet gift and all,” Steve said, bringing it closer so he could indeed confirm that it was in fact a mood ring. “Why this? I doubt Wheeler had any part of this.”
Will stiffened his shoulders slightly. “It was actually Mike’s idea.”
“His idea of a joke?” Steve shook the ring in the air. “I know I’m not the brightest but don’t jokes have to make sense to be funny?”
Will raised a brow, glancing at the door. “Do you really not know why? Steve, look at it.”
And so he did. It was a good-looking ring, not something he would expect to be a prize at an arcade if he was being honest. The small circular gem stood out with the speckles of black mixed in with the metal band transitioning to something of a y-shape. He never wore rings, the notion of them being something unmanly and girly drilled into him since he was a kid. He hated how he had the same prejudice thoughts not even a few years back and how he still couldn’t bring himself to have the confidence to ever try one on even now. Even though Eddie's name has been cleared legally, he's still very much on trial in the court of public opinion. Dealing drugs isn't a lucrative occupation anymore, and getting a legitimate job in a town who still considers him a killer isn't much of an option, either. Eddie is beginning to think skipping town and starting over somewhere no one knows his name is the only chance he has left. Steve has another idea.
