Summary
A string of pearls wrapped tight, air lost, breathing restricted under the strangling pressure of a well-made necklace intended not to snap easily even when it was stretched around a tender neck. That was what it felt like to look at Superman and his pristine white cape billowing majestically, the red symbol on his chest like the shock of blood over fresh snow. His too-perfect smile glinted in the sun like a threat, the threat of a Lord with the final piece of a rebellion in the palm of his all-powerful fist, ripe for crushing.
The Bat existed to strike fear into the heart of darkness, but what was a shadow in the face of direct sunlight?

Humans never cared for those who were different, they called them "freaks." Though, they were simply Peculiar.
But what Human, Wight, or Hollowgast should know, is never mess with an "army of freaks!"
Particularly if you didn't wish to vex Oswald, nor Jim either since both were some of the strongest of the Ymbrynes.
Bruce Wayne learned that quickly once he stumbled onto the odd happenings, an injured hawk, and Oswald's loop. Alfred, and later Selina, did warm him though, never to underestimate the peculiar. -

Detective Jayme Gordon went to Oswald's opening with the intent to get one, maybe two very well deserved, very needed drinks.
Sure, she turned down the invitation, but that was before she spent hours in a hospital with a screaming, terrified teen begging for help she couldn't give. Now she needed that drink and the place was on her way home.
Contrary to Harvey's complaints, she did not go there to get on Maroni's bad side. Again.

Oswald Cobblepot used to balk at the curse on the GCPD but things changed.
He could have lived a normal life, but instead he chose to work at the GCPD. Like an idiot. He used to have ideals, plans, the usual things. He was going to make a difference.
At least he was making a difference, just not the way he imagined when he was working himself to death during college or when he first walked into his new job in the crime lab. He learned about monsters and curses along the way, but he would rather be ignorant.

Summary
Connor found himself on the run after he marched a warehouse full of androids to freedom and saved the remnants of Jericho from being gunned down.
Public opinion is so vital to the android's survival, and yet it is a very fickle thing indeed.
He hadn't considered what life might be like after he succeeded but he never would have pictured what did follow. Freeing the androids wasn't something he could ever regret but being labeled a terrorist by the FBI and hiding from the promise of deactivation was less than pleasant. It only grew worse once he was caught.

Everyone has a breaking point though and it's the summons to a memorial that makes it all crash in on him.Jim thinks he's safe to break just a little in his own home, confined in his walls, and that would be true... if Penguin was not audacious enough to break into his apartment.

There is a serial number on his arm now, like he's a piece of hardware. Gavin finds that hard to wrap his mind around.
He learns a lot about androids after being hunted, locked in a cage, and sold to someone he's never met. Add in his broken state, his vulnerability, and he really understands what being at the mercy of another race is like. He's never been so terrified in all his life, and it's not just the thought of death that frightens him, it's what might come before his last breath.

Attending Hogwarts was complicated when one harbored secrets that required a disguise and alter ego. Complications only grew as secrets, both belonging to her and to others, grew when Brooklyn Wayne attended school.
There was much about her even her closest friends did not know and the list grew with each passing year, but she never expected to be caught in her subterfuge. Never really expected things to fall apart.
Some outcomes were all the more unforeseen even with the excuse of foolish youthfulness.

I haven't felt comfortable writing in this particular AU since the author became problematic. Maybe someday I'll finish.

Fem!Clark Kent. Slightly darker Fem!Clark, but she's trying to do right even if she might be wrong. Kind of twisted, messed up love between a Luthor and Kent. Because, really, with Jor-El and Lionel pulling strings, how could they ever be normal? And then there's the legend.
