"Like your kiss with Jane," Will interrupts.
"Yes. Exactly."
Or: It's January 1992, and Mike and Will are college roommates, teetering on the edge of becoming something more. Mike drunkenly kisses Will at a bar, the night before Jane returns after five years of being presumed dead. Will convinces himself everything is fine, this is life returning to the way it was supposed to be. But Mike won’t stop kissing him.

And the few friends he's made since he started college to help pull him out of his shell. So what if he forgets his past. He gets to live life to the fullest in the present. Until the memories start seeping out. And Will meets a stranger in a bar he wishes he never forgot.

Miscommunication kings Will and Mike have a falling out in the aftermath of their first kiss. Three years later, Jane & Dustin are getting married in the Florida Keys, and they want the whole party there. Sometimes it's easier to pretend to kiss and make up than to face your problems.

It had been seven years since the party ended in Mike Wheeler’s basement after graduation. He was drowning in a sea of conformity, grasping at the only lifeline that ever made sense to him, his imagination.
Or-Mike ends up in New York after years of isolation. Curious to know if his former best friend still lived in the city. He felt completely aimless, until he stumbles upon a gallery, and sees a painting of his younger self hung in an exhibit, a plaque next to the frame reading, “First Love-W.B”.
Mike is finally faced with the reality that he’s always been too scared to admit.
