Summary
What is the Overlapped World?
This is Universe 112421, which houses an Earth where First Contact occurred in the year 1021 AD, and history had thoroughly changed as a result of this event, reflected in the calendar. Many places are surprisingly the same, with several countries still having a parallel history to their counterparts in our world, but don't be fooled by the familiarity. This world is more than just a mirror of ours, as this world is home to alien immigrant families, unusual (but not entirely impossible) alternate paths, monsters from all sorts of folklore, a worldwide knowledge of magic and the existence thereof, several anachronistic details (if you know where to look) and some pretty advanced technology.
A world of several stories being told, each one unique, but each one reveals a world that is home to an overlapping beauty and horror.
That is the Overlapped World.

Summary
After surviving the disasters on The Kerberos, Ling Yi and Olek take comfort in each other, but Ling Yi’s feelings of loneliness run deep. A non-simulation AU.
But she cannot help feeling like this — like a ghost, doomed to speak and speak and speak and never be heard. She wants to make a dramatic gesture, to point him out of the room, to smash something precious on the floor. Like a ghost, she feels she must be violent to make her presence known. What would he do, if he knew what she was capable of? If he knew what she’d done? Would he still want to protect her, then?

Ángel peered at himself in the mirror as if maybe he were wrong but he knew that if he brought a hand to himself his reflection would do the same. It was strange, it wasn’t like looking at old photos or recalling a slightly warped memory, he was twenty-nine now and he had been twenty-nine then yet he’d never been twenty-nine as he had in the simulation. He wasn’t sure how to reckon that with such a clear image of a version of himself that previously never existed. Although he supposed that that wasn’t quite true anymore.

Summary
Sometimes, Ling Yi's mind feels as wide as an ocean whose waves traverse the whole world over. Her demons wear the faces of continents; her mistakes are monsters swimming in the depths, rising to crush whole ships in their maws. The currents move with her mother's downcast eyes. The roar of the tide is the same as Mei Mei's cries as she fell to the ground. Now that their world has come to make no sense at all, her mind can add to the torrent the image of her mother jumping away from her into the sea. And as she watches that loss happen again and again in her mind's eye, the coldest, loneliest feeling that she's ever had spreads from her fingers to her toes. On this cursed ship, it truly feels like she has become an ocean, restless and violent.
But here too is Olek with his head pressed close to hers, his touch comforting, his words unknown but gentle all the same.
